you can dump games without buying that, if all you want to do is play on the PC with an emulator... (or just not dump games and download them via torrent/etc)Cliff:

the only difference is you can dump your original switch games with the certificate files (and play online) so you can basically play all your legal purchased games under one cartridge without carrying a case of them. This device is really good for the parent whose kids has a switch and thinks their kids will lose $1000++ worth of switch games purchased over time.
be careful buying used games with this device out, because scumbags will trade in/sell their games to gamestop or other online chits after dumping the original certificate thinking he got a free game then the parent or kids buys that used copy and now they are both have banned nintendo switches because two original certificates ended up online at the same time.

The switch is over 7 years old, and we've had emulators for like the last 5.
