‘Dune 2’ Criticized for Lack of ME and North African Inclusion and Influence
https://variety.com/2024/film/news/d...on-1235946027/
If anyone has seen it, which if you haven't you should (and also Part 1 - both on a big screen), but you'd know all of the Fremen are ME and North African.
NOT ENOUGH though. Apparently everyone else who wasn't on the desert planet also needed to fill those DEI quotas. It's never enough with these people, the placate activist extremist nutjobs is the height of stupidity. You can not appease a radical, do not give a single inch to them ever.
But despite praise for the film’s stunning cinematography and visual effects, “Dune: Part Two” is being criticized by some commentators for failing to properly contend with the book’s Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) influences and commentary on Western imperialism. These critics offer a wide range of objections, including faulting the production for failing to cast many MENA actors in speaking roles, as well as leveling objections to story choices that diminish MENA influences.
What is MENA, some new catchword for black or ME people? If anyone has seen it, which if you haven't you should (and also Part 1 - both on a big screen), but you'd know all of the Fremen are ME and North African.

I believe nobody was actually critical of any of that sht when they watched it. Our outrage culture and clickbait monetization has just created a culture where SOMEONE will ALWAYS have to be outraged.
And, to be clear, that’s spread throughout society, both sides of the political spectrum, age, income, education, etc.

I love how they accuse it of being a "white savior" movie.
Clearly they didn't watch the movie.

Also, if a movie is getting **** on by the left, then you know it's a good movie and worth watching.

Sounds like the empty phrases "some people on Twitter are talking about" or "social media experts say" or "gender theory experts say..."
Bourgeois as it gets. The same people who are silent when it's the other way around.

The fact you got the most posts in this thread now means Jay was right.

You: “HAH! Miscinbro is trying to cover for them!”
So you and others here are either dishonest yourselves, and just the r/p version of the authors in the OP, or you’re so used to your siloed echo chamber you actually can’t see outside it even when it’s starring you in the face.

Makes me wonder: I wonder how many on the left truly give a fuk about the DEI outrage in general? Maybe not many.
I think we're seeing a shift, I used to make these kinds of threads chitting on some goofy outrage or DEI nonsense and I'd take flack simply for talking about it. Like, someone gets mad at me for wanting to talk about the Little Mermaid or Disney being exposed having an agenda to not include white men anywhere.
I'm seeing less and less of that and it's become more and more muted. It's gone from a, "YOU RACIST", to "... I disagree", to "well you're probably right I guess", which is a pretty big movement overall.

The difference is that's he's more likely to notice the right side, and vice-versa, but he's also not considering that the right tends to be way outside the mainstream. When The Daily Wire makes a small goofy movie about men pretending to be trans to win at sports, that's kind of cashing in on the outrage. It's also 1/1,000,000the the size, scope and influence of Disney. This used to be more measured back in the day when the left was more nuanced and restrained with the propaganda, which is no longer the case. The right was always small and on the outside and always very openly right-wing with their smaller stabs at cultural influence (used to be just poorly-made Christian movies). The left was far more influential but at least tried to pretend they were not so biased. Now though, they've gone all in, which I think is disastrous, but probably the topic of another thread/conversation.
So just stepping back for a second and pretending I'm perfectly unbiased in the center (which, no I am not) but if I were -- if the left has 1,000 times the size of the bullhorn to screech with, and they most certainly do, then to me that makes it far greater of the issue. Even if they both play the same kind of game.
You probably register that, as you lean right, and so when he says what he did -- you're befuddled by it, it's too alien and incomprehensible. But, it's not. He's just (and from I would see not even particularly extremely) but more on the left than you or I.

And, honestly I’m far more critical when the left does absolute cringe ass sht as it’s supposed to be “my team” (I hate that term - I don’t have a team and I very much hate what the Dems are doing atm).
I would point out that Trump has a very real chance of winning and he’s the king of fear and outrage pedaling.

They do this because it’s easy - it plays us against each other so they don’t actually have to do anything to stay in power and become more and more the ruling class while everyone on the board is slowing becoming a serf.
If you were one of the people playing that game - yes - you would label that “extremist” I guess. But it’s ABSOLUTELY nothing like me providing cover for the “****” lovers … a statement you agreed with.
