Well I can tell you CVS/Walgreens and other places like that are closing down specifically due to 'crime' and not from online pressure. They've openly admitted its in specific areas where the crime is out of control. Specific areas in specific cities.




Yes. Online shopping negatively affects a lot of retail stores. But 'luxury' places tend to do ok. And that mall had a lot of luxury stores.



Here's the deal. If you operate a business selling merchandise. And you have to pay extremely high rent every month for your storefront. You have to pay utilities. You have to pay insurance. You have to pay employees. And you have to buy all your merchandise.

Then a large portion of your merchandise is simply taken by people who don't want to pay. And LE cannot effectively arrest/stop those individuals. And if they do, the court system will not put them in jail. Eventually, you go out of business. You simply cannot operate a business long where you lose more money then you make. Places are going to sell out and close up.
