I still go back and play games from those eras fairly regularly.

N64 since it is the home to so many of my all time favorites

Ocarina of Time
Majoras Mask
Mario 64
Banjo Kazooie
Conkers BFD
Wave Race
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Mario Kart 64
Snowboard Kids
F Zero X
Turok
....

it also was present for my teens to adult, so many epic times getting jucky with mates and playing N64

Gamecube is a close second since this sort of blends in with the N64 for me as far as that experience goes

not to sound jaded but as an adult I get most of my unforgettable gaming moments from riviting single player story based games

that just hits different

These days probably Sega Dreamcast, N64, PS1, Gamecube, and Genesis in my top 5. Not sure if I consider PS3 and 360 to be legitimately retro consoles but I suppose they could be considered that today. PS2, Xbox, and SNES also get honorable mentions. Lots of more obscure stuff I got but as far as home consoles go those are the ones with the best overall libraries.

Whenever I boot up the Raspberry Pi I always go Genesis first and then SNES.

Genesis:
Shining Force series
Two Crude Dudes
Streets of Rage
WWE Royal Rumble
The Lion King
Ka Ge Ki
Columns
Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine
Sonic

SNES:
Super Mario World
Donkey Kong Country
Super Putty
Gradius III
Super Double Dragon
Super Punch Out
Super Mario RPG
Super Smash TV
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Chrono Trigger

Just the classics from top to bottom on those systems

PS1, greatest gaming library + many hidden gems and japanese only games that still need patches.

Hell, the console is getting new releases yearly because of fan translations. Look up Hilltop, we're literally getting a new ps1 megaman legends game today

Aged much better than N64 especially since emulators fixed the dithering problem.

Lol N64 cartridges had no space and didn't even have any FMV's, poverty as fck bro.

The n64 controller was also dogsh*t.

No wonder it lost so hard against the PS1.

if you use emulators to defend the PS1 aging you could do the same for the issues you have with N64 brah

Aren't we all playing on emulators these days anyway? The experience is just much better and more convenient imo.

if you optimize games to the max by emulation N64 beats PS1 by a landslide when it comes to quality

PS1 had the quantity though, just so much more classics on N64

and I had both growing up so it's not nostalgia

Lol no, I'm sure you were too poor for PS1 or hardly had any games for the system.

Objectively speaking PS1 had more and better games. N64 had Maria and Zelda, rest were mediocre and hell it didn't even have many genres. For example for RPG's the N64 was pure garbage. PS1 has 10+ classics in that area alone, N64 doesn't even have 10 classics in its entire library of games lol.

There's a reason why N64 lost so hard, it was just a bad console with a mediocre library of games, not even OOT could save N64.

I agree with most of what you said but N64 was far more expensive than PS1. The games cost nearly twice as much here. ($40 for PS1 vs $70 for N64)

That was one of the biggest issues with the N64. We all grew up playing it in my neighborhood but only a few of us actually owned one.

Yeah nintendo was retarded and shot in its own foot and didn't follow technology. Besides faster loading cartridges were dogsh*t back then.

I think even square decided to ultimately skip the n64 and went with ps1 for FF7 because of the CD's

Not for nothing but N64 had:
Goldeneye
Army Men: Sarge's Heros
Perfect Dark
Donkey Kong 64
Conversation bad Fur Day
Diddy Kong Racing
Quest 64
Goemon
Ogre Battle 64
Sub Zero Chronicles
BattleTanx
Bomberman
SSX Tricky
Waverace
Mario Kart
Zelda: OOT
Zelda: MM
Paper Mario

Etc etc.

It's fine to like PS1 better but stop pretending like the 64 library wasn't extremely solid.

I'm sorry bro but that's a pathetic group of games if that's the best the N64 has to offer. I'm not saying they're all bad but lol

Anyway.
