Srs. Two pair in a 29 gallon tank can spawn 1000-2000 fry per month. Raise them for 60 days and sell them to local fish stores for $1-2 each.

You can literally make $40-50k per year having a couple of fish tanks.

I have no idea. Online people are saying that they sell 50-60 per month to a given store. I just need to find 20 of those.

You really do belong on the show Hoarders, man. I told you when you made that thread the other day that an episode based on you and your place would make for an instant classic.

Just think about, man: You'd get your place cleaned out for free, and you could become legitimately infamous on youtube along with others who have starred on the show. Then you could even participate in one of their follow up episodes 2 - 3 years down the line where they check in on old guests of the show. It'd be awesome

This is a terrible idea keeping a tank in your house poses a risk that it will break for no reason and cause water damage your insurance won’t cover.

I plan on getting a Rubbermaid water trough setting it up in my backyard and starting a catfish farm for me to eat.

pet stores are notorious for already having too many fish and often need to outsource their suppliers!!!

Space and labor.

Once a brood of fry hatch, you'll need to feed them about 6x per day and change the water daily to keep it clean with all the food. By 21 days, they are also going to need a 30 gallon tank for one brood. By 35 days they'll need to be split into multiple 50 gallon tanks to give 500-1000 fish enough room.

Basically, you need the space for 4-6 large tanks for different broods of fish, plus a giant brine shrimp breeder tank, plus the tank for the parents. Retail space is expensive. Most pet stores would never have enough room for that.
