The problem with liberals is how they seem to operate entirely off of idealism. Like they have some ambitious idealistic goals that aren't grounded in reality, try to ignore all the issues they can have, while aggressively trying to force them upon the general population as proposed solutions to problems people didn't have until democrat politicians started to mandate and control everything.

An undergrad qualifies you to understand absolutely dick about econ, dude. If you think lin alg is impractical, you have absolutely no understanding of how the world works. I can think of tons of examples where it is directly used in econ.

Also, if your brother did any remotely rigorous econ, he would need lin alg, diff eqs, and probably some analysis, at the very least. Grown up econ requires things like convex optimization and game theory, along with extensive use of linear algebra and diff eqs in various contexts. Economists also need a strong background in probability and statistics.
