In retrospect what console and or

Video game were you the most excited to buy when it launched and were your expectations satisfied or were you let down?

All my consoles were hand me downs and older gen stuff I bought used, so I never really got hyped for a console launch. I got the Switch late after skipping a few gens and will only get a Switch 2 if it's backwards compatible with at least the games if not the controllers too. Because buying 4+ controllers and having all my old games be worthless on another new consoles is not appealing to me when I feel like I just got done doing that recently with the Switch.

I was obsessed with getting an NES for months and months after playing Battletoads at my friend’s house. During that time period I also played Super Mario Bros 3 on my cousin’s NES which only made me want one even more. And no it wasn’t a let down, not even a little.

Mario 1, 2, and 3 were definitely NES (although in the US we didn’t get the real Mario 2, we got Doki Doki Panic with a Mario skin, but no one cares about Mario 2).

You’re thinking of Super Mario World

Idk but I got my 8 year old a switch a couple years ago. Just recently bought the latest Zelda game and I play tf out of it when I can. Gives me strong late 90s nostalgia feels

Yep. I sure am.

I didn't even know the Sega master system had a sonic game I thought the genesis has the fjedt incarnation.

Sega really did everything right. Except for the 33x and Sega cd. Those add one really cost them. Then the Saturn was so hard to program for. . The dream cast is probably in top 3 best consoles of all time but they destroyed their name.

Dream cast is arguably the BEST console ever when you think about what it could do outside of gaming. It was a mini pc

The only old consoles I still plug in and play from time to time are my NES and my Genesis. Don’t know if that makes them the best but they are apparently my favorites.
