Living debt free is the life
Such common sense and amazing that Dave Ramsey was able to parlay it into an empire.
Even the Bible gives financial advice: “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is slave of the lender.”
my parents and grandparents didn't like debt...we weren't rich but there was never a time we worried about what we needed to live.
we live in economy that depends on people feeling they need to buy stuff and take on debt to avoided being seen as a poorcel.

I agree, but if you are in debt and decide to walk away and BK everything, then fuk the lenders.

You’ll be rewarded in the afterlife
“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God”
I mean sucks now but it’ll be worth it later I promise

The problem comes when you buy a 100k car when you make 60k.

As someone who has been on both sides I will say debt free is where its at. Allthough I'm technically not because I still have my 2.3% mortgage.
When I started making decent money around 2016 I bought a brand new fishing boat and paid it off in 2017, then bought a second boat in 2018 to hang out/wakeboard. Then in late 2019 I bought a brand new truck to pull the boats. Everything was paid off by the end of 2020. Although I could have been alot better off financially today if I hadn't bought all that stuff I am so glad I did because I have been able to make great memories with the things I bought. I'm also fortunate because I would not buy any of these things today as my wages has not kept pace with the price inflation of everything.
So yea I could have seeded my future with that extra 150k but I can't see the benefit of having another million dollars when I'm 70 and can't really enjoy it. A great kind of counter perspective to the traditional "save all your money when you're young" mantra is a book called "Die with Zero" by Bill Perkins. Worth a read!
