Living debt free is the life

Such common sense and amazing that Dave Ramsey was able to parlay it into an empire.

Even the Bible gives financial advice: “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is slave of the lender.”

my parents and grandparents didn't like debt…we weren't rich but there was never a time we worried about what we needed to live.

we live in economy that depends on people feeling they need to buy stuff and take on debt to avoided being seen as a poorcel.

I would rate OP’s advice about the same as this:

"the poors" – just more pressure tactics to spend and become a slave. always gotta be mindful of the games you chews play.

Good news OP

You’ll be rewarded in the afterlife

“Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God”

I mean sucks now but it’ll be worth it later I promise

The basic premise of his advice isn’t necessarily wrong but it’s shortsighted. Leverage and all debt isn’t bad if you use it as investment, businesses etc.

The problem comes when you buy a 100k car when you make 60k.

lmao what Christian values did they instill in you, exactly? Like acting like a stuck up prick all the time even towards people who tried being friendly towards you for months or perhaps years on here? I don't have any issue with you really, but that's some food for thought for you. You usually come off as thinking very highly of yourself while showing zero gratitude or bro-ship towards others who try to be agreeable with you.

If you owe the bank $1 million that’s your problem

If you owe the bank $100 million that’s the bank’s problem

Your slave mindset is 100% your problem

Who was working and not being a mindless consoomer? Sure, my quality of life will suffer temporarily. However, for the majority of our lives I will have a significantly higher quality of life than you. You spend your days trying to get by while being as broke as possible. Then brag about it on a gay dying Indian bodybuilding forum. To each their own

Edit: I do agree with the op. Just bought a car yesterday for cash, interest was around 6.5%

As someone who has been on both sides I will say debt free is where its at. Allthough I'm technically not because I still have my 2.3% mortgage.

When I started making decent money around 2016 I bought a brand new fishing boat and paid it off in 2017, then bought a second boat in 2018 to hang out/wakeboard. Then in late 2019 I bought a brand new truck to pull the boats. Everything was paid off by the end of 2020. Although I could have been alot better off financially today if I hadn't bought all that stuff I am so glad I did because I have been able to make great memories with the things I bought. I'm also fortunate because I would not buy any of these things today as my wages has not kept pace with the price inflation of everything.

So yea I could have seeded my future with that extra 150k but I can't see the benefit of having another million dollars when I'm 70 and can't really enjoy it. A great kind of counter perspective to the traditional "save all your money when you're young" mantra is a book called "Die with Zero" by Bill Perkins. Worth a read!
