Found out son is Type I diabetic. Fuark.

Crazy last 48 hours. Long story short, I've owned diabetic cats for 15 years and know the signs. Took him to the ER on a hunch yesterday morning. They confirmed. Transferred to a children's hospital. Just got released with all his meds and treatment plan.

Total fluke I knew what to look for and came in before he was sick. They said it's like a 0.1% thing that kids get diagnosed type I without having a medical emergency that triggers the discovery.

Insane part is there is 0 family history and the kid is jacked with a 6-pack and in the 98% percentile for height.

Feels brahs.

I don’t know a ton about it outside of that it’s a lot easier to manage these days.

We got some pretty heavy news at the 20 week ultrasound for our daughter so I understand what you’re going through to an extent.

With Carnivore and keto type 1 diabetics are having a lot of success, even overturning the diagnosis. But op will of course opt for drugs and oatmeal with candies and cake. Because balanced diet. And don’t forget fruits and vegetables! Plenty of fruits and vegetables! Layne Norton says it’s good! PhD.

That's a tough one, brah. Glad you trusted your gut.

It must feel pretty surreal right now. Are they going to connect you with a dietitian or anything?
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

I'm actually open to exploring the possible ways to treat it with diet only. We have an appointment with his pediatrician this week. He is way more into natural and alternative treatments than most doctors, and I'm going to ask him about his experiences with patients managing it without being insulin dependent. Although I've only seen studies cited at like 5-10% remission in children even with ideal diets.

Definitely surreal. Yeah, they are. The children's hospital in Austin is actually pretty well regarded. They had the pediatrician, an endocrinologist, and a dietitian meet with us today. Have follow ups with the endo and dietician as well.

From what the doctors told my buddies son, you’re born with type 1 . But since Covid theres an aggressive strain of type 1 going around . My buddies kid got type 1 shortly after being vaxxed,so he’s blaming it on the vax,but the diabetic specialist claims it’s from Covid , which my buddies son has had a few times .
Regardless, insulin prescriptions are at an all time high since all this crap started . The guy across the street passed away from complications due to type 1 a few years ago . He was 35 , brutal.

T1 Diabetes is an autoimmune disorder - it will have no impact on your son otherwise.

He may even get more jacked due to being on insulin.

no ones overturned t1 diagnosis. they still need insulin even in small amounts, because their body doesn't produce any

if they get off insulin completely they were never t1 to begin with. You need insulin even when fasting as t1

when you're first diagnosed as t1 you have a 'honeymoon' period in which your body still produces small amounts of insulin, so technically if you're keto/zero carb you could get away with it. But that only lasts a small time

That sucks, but glad you were able to catch your sons type 1 early.

I've always thought the research work on curing type 1 diabetes with the TB vaccine interesting. A video on that ~

I disapprove of this post - you're a grown man taking the opportunity of a little kid's illness to belittle someone else. You should be ashamed of yourself. You really should.

Feels bro, srs...

Type 1 diabetic myself, don't let it get you or him down, he can still have a normal life. It sucks, I know, but never think it means he can't live life; check out the Omnipod dash insulin pump and the Dexcom G7 blood sugar monitor, both are life changers.

PM me if you need to talk privately, srs, always here for another type 1 when needed.

Even with diet only you can go into ketoacidosis, type 1 needs at least a basal insulin; done straight keto/no carb it help with in insulin resistance and controls amount needed but wont reverse it fully. Type 1 is you do no produce insulin, so at least some is needed. Straight eating no carbs is also hard, either your blood sugars go low or it limits what you can eat too much (quality of life); Sometimes you just have carbs so insulin on standby at least is needed.

Doctors and dietitians know nothing about diets. They will tell you to eat grains bread fruit and cake etc.

Your addiction to scientism is not helping. There are no studies that would be fairly set up to carnivores or low carb. There is no money in that. Margins on carbs and drugs are massive. Margins on meat are tiny. It’s all about the Benjamins.

On low carb your insulin dose would need to be dramatically less for starters. Right there you already have an obligation to go low carb.

Instead of braindead studies, listen to real parents, real people who beat reversed and managed diabetes with low carb or zero carb approaches. It’s an autoimmune condition, thus an elimination diet is a must. Aka carnivore.

That would never happen even in theory. My kid eats and barely prefers rare beef and raw milk. Small amounts of organic everything else. Maybe 5% or less.

Type 1 is an autoimmune condition. There is only one way to treat autoimmune conditions, stop eating the garbage. Eat Steak and water.
