Have you actually ever met a home-schooled person IRL

I have never met one that I know of

I think once someone somehow put it in a job application that I was on the selection panel for

I tried really hard to push him through to the interview stage because I wanted to meet him but I couldn’t convince the other panel members

Anyone met one IRL?

Only a child, not an adult

When I was 22 I lived in a shared house. The landlords were a fairly young couple (lata 30s) and they had a young girl around 6

They told me that they homeschooled her and they wouldn’t allow her to watch TV (or very very little). She only had access to a radio (they brought it to our house and it was some 1980s looking piece of junk they’d have playing throughout the day)

You can Just Tell instantly something is off/different, she was extremely well behaved, friendly and discipline and seemed to be unusually close to her mother. Most other kids are not as attached to their parents and dont seem as focused as this young girl was

My friend home schooled his child that is now 10. Speaks 3 languages, can play piano, exactly like Beethoven but is a bit socially awkward, his sister also home schooled speaks 2 languages, plys soccer and is very social. Some kids are just introverts

Misc will cope because they got toilet-dunked in public school(by me) but my kids are home-schooled and are the most well adjusted people I have ever seen in my life(Ded Fkn Srs)


They both play instruments, are about 5 grades ahead of their public peers; extremely well spoken, get along with anyone they meet(yes they have friends in the neighborhood)

They're so busy mogging life they're on the internet maybe 20 minutes a week(no cell phones in my home)



Edit: My son just started his own lawn care business so he can pay me for one of my cars when he turns 16(all his idea), I'm going to surprise him with a bad ass toolbox filled with auto tools for Christmas

I had a coworker who had a stay at home mom who homeschooled their kids. i meet the kids, idk they seemed normal but that was only for a short bit. they had the kids play sports to make sure they get socialized. it was new aged pussy sports though like the soccer league didnt keep track of points, so there were no winners or losers all games just for fun, I had heard of stuff like that on the news but it was the first time someone telling me about it IRL. yeah them kids are probably fuked

Apparently in Australia it’s only half of one per cent of kids that are home schooled currently

And historically around a quarter of one per cent

So statistically it’s not outside the realm of possibility that I have in fact never met a person who was homeschooled

Knew 2 while a kid, met through team sports.

Sure, without exception they were all a lot more mature and much more respectful and infinitely smarter than public or private school kids of the same age, it wasn’t even close.

I was home schooled for about 5 years, the ages of like 9 - 13, home schooling sucks in some ways, when I was re introduced to public school it was like releasing a domesticated animal into the wild, I was the target of ridicule and humiliation because during the time I was home schooled I was isolated from the world and neither of my parents worked so they were always there and they both had mental problems, When I was put back in school the friends I made in time were shocked when I told them about my home life and the way my parents acted and treated me, for most kids who have loving parents home schooling may be great but it wasn't for me, it just amplified problems.

Yeah my own kids.

1- started his own appliance repair business at age 19. He cleared 50k by age 20.
2- art scholarship
3- college grants, computer science major/ went to HS, became team captain, 3 year letterman in football
4- still in school, really into culinary skills.

I’ve also been a teacher for more than 25 years and many homeschool kids that came to school were simply GREAT kids.

Remember that statistically, homeschool kids have higher IQ and get into better colleges, and are more social, not less, because homeschool communities are quite large and they make a point to get together and so on, obviously there will be backward homeschool kids, but you have to remember that there is an obvious anti-homeschooling propaganda, and you have to remember where it’s coming from.

Not a ton of times. They always seem about 5 years behind in terms of social maturity, from what I saw.

I don't even understand how home schooling really works. I mean, it's nice to keep people away from the nonsense of public schools in their formative years, but am I really to believe that Heidi the stay home mom is doing a great job at teaching math, science, etc.? Do they just order the textbooks the schools use, or how do they avoid all the woke stuff along the way?

Also, I guarantee most of the home schooled kids end up doing some seriously stupid chit in college to help make up for some of what they felt like they missed out on back in high school.

Do you really spend a significant enough time around your cousin's children to be able to be an accurate judge that they're so much better than other kids based off of their home schooling? Because I see my cousins' kids less than once a year.
