Honestly probably somewhere near mountains. Maybe somewhere near Montana or Park City, Utah.
Out of the country I'd either choose like small town Italy near the water, or Sweden.

As far as nice...most of SD county is solid, like half of riverside ain't bad but all of it's hot. Coastal LA way better than the rest of LA county, Ventura is up and coming, Santa Barbara has and likely always will be gorgeous. The mountain towns like Big Bear and Lake Arrowhead are also nice but have been rapidly rising in price for a few years now.
Much of NorCal is nice once you head north past SF, or east past Sacramento, albeit a bit "west coast redneck" if that might be an issue.

As a movie fan, I like LA for the revival theaters and other movie related stuff, so living in Studio City or the Equestrian District in Burbank would be cool for that, but obviously LA suck for so many other reasons and ultimately probably wouldn't want to live there.
I might choose one of those quite, sparsely inhabited Greek Islands, sit still and look at the water until I die.

I couldn't give a fair answer without actually trying to live in such a place for 6+ months first. You don't know what you don't know.
But my imagination tells me:
- The expensive part of East coast FL near or on the beach
- High up in a spacious corner condo in a big city like New York, LA, or San Francisco
- Sydney Australia
- The most American/English friendly parts of Tokyo
- Pre-Biden New Mexico or Texas (too many illegals now)
- Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Mostly because of Fast & Furious

As liberally cucked as Hawaii is, I'd live there in a heartbeat. But I'm not a millionaire, so I'll stick to Texas.

I love Thailand and the UAE. Both developing countries continually on the rise. Friendly, clean & safe. My problem with each of them is the extreme heat. Damn unpleasant.
Portugal & Spain's climates are much better, but I also actually like miserable weather (in moderation). This is why places like the English countryside through to the Nordic countries are still pretty attractive so long as there are no brokies or migrants about.
