anybody notice that people wwho strive for success are the most troubled people?

Like you see someone who looks good and has a career, but you get to know them and you realise they're broken af and have control issues, etc.

Desiring kinetic pleasures to achieve static bliss is a pretty big logical fallacy.

Aka striving for success to achieve happiness is a doomed plan.

It’s very simple..

Kinetic pleasures are fleeting and temporary. They are things like upgrading your computers or getting a fancy car. When you first get your new fancy car it will be your cool new car, after a few months it’s just your car again.

Static pleasure is when you don’t have any desires. You have taken care of hunger but didn’t want to go buy a giant ribeye, you just don’t need food. You have a coat for the cold, just not that Canadian goose one because all your needs required was to not be cold.


Happiness is found in achieving static pleasure and not having desires for kinetic pleasures outside that.

I'm perfectly content and happy, but wouldn't mind a million dollars or a brand new mercedes. I am talking about people who are lacking something within and feel that an outwardly appearance of success can somehow make up for it. I've known so many people who you would think are cool, but are actually just crazy when you get to know them.

I mean it’s a spectrum just because you think where you land on it is ok doesn’t mean you’ve managed to reach a place of static bliss.

It’s not like it’s a crackpot theory, it’s the same conclusion reached thousands of years apart by vastly different thinkers from Epicurus to siddhartha.

The person who is “lacking something within”. Just happens to land far enough down the scale of desires and wants that it motivates him much more then you. But your desires and wants are still somewhere on that same spectrum. It’s not something different.

i've been through spiritual enlightenment - i feel like i am on pure c0caine most of the day and have crazy confidence, etc. I litirally don't feel emotions like sadness, despair, or depression - nor do I have any thoughts, let alone negative ones.

I am perfectly happy with nothing - but fk if I'm gonna sit around doing fck all and acheive nothing. You only get one go at this life that were born into, might as well give it a good crack. There's nothing enlightened about being a lazy bum. Even Jesus was a carpenter, and Paul was a tentmaker.
