Theres a fine line. The hardest part is putting your kids through the gauntlet when they dont need to. Finding that balance vs necessity is an art.

IMO, if you are going to be hard on your kids, the key is to make sure you are 100% doing it for them and not your own ego/releasing past traumas onto them.

You may be able to trick them when young but they will eventually grow up and learn the truth

all men need a challenge. its healthy for us.

Like taking cold showers or working out and the like, we thrive on challenges, even if we fail at them. Its good for learning and growth.

Women dont do this and usually avoid them.

Good example for myself is I am moving to arizona next month. Get to unload the moving truck by myself in the august heat. Not really looking forward to it but its a challenge i am up for and will beat.
"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Thats the fine line right? Ultimately, i want my kids to learn the value of discipline, consistency and hard work.....but Id think of course your past gets in the way......at least for me it does. Im trying to find a great example of how its done without ones past being a part of it......it just seems like human nature (experienced based) to have it be a part of the process.

I am not "tricking" them even when young. No point in doing so. Pretty obvious they wont be hungry when they walk past super cars in the garage.

Think you understood it the wrong way. I meant unloading past traumas onto your children. Being abusive in the name of "love".

Your entire life is playing defense. No wonder you're depressed.

Tensing up before work
Tensing up before meetings
Tensing up and calming urself while ur coworkers talk chit

Play offense.
