I really think Ed Norton should've been cast as Andy Kaufman in Man on the Moon(1999)

Supposedly, the decision came down to Norton & Jim Carrey. The studio chose Carrey over Norton simply due to the fact that Jim was a huge box office draw in the '90s. I hadn't seen the movie since probably the early 2000s, but decided to watch it recently. When I initially saw it, I knew very little about Andy Kaufman. This was before Youtube, so I wasn't able to watch all those old clips of him. But after re-watching Man on the Moon, I didn't feel any sort of authenticity from Jim Carrey's portrayal. I know he got really into the character and was highly praised for his work, but I just didn't see the connection there. Carrey was far too high-energy for the part. His comedic timing & delivery were still very "Jim Carrey," not Andy Kaufman at all. It wasn't even a caricature of Andy, felt like he was playing a completely different person. Edward Norton's acting, in general, is more on key with the character I think. I don't think there's any audition videos out there or anything, but just from having seen Ed in a lot of movies, I can guarantee he would've been a more fitting actor to step into that role. And its a shame because I really like Jim Carrey, but this just wasn't a good part for him, in my opinion.

Definitely an interesting guy. Far ahead of his time. Was a 'troll' decades before trolling even existed. I enjoyed the movie, but thought it could've been a lot more than what it was.

I've gotta tell you, Freeburn. I've never seen or heard of this movie before. Is it really worth a watch?
