Why is working in an office so exhausting?

I am literally just sitting there sedentary, expending zero energy for 8 hours a day, yet I feel worse doing this than I do after playing basketball outside in the hot sun for 2 hours. Chit makes no sense whatsoever.

It isn't. You're being a drama queen.

You're young enough that if you wanted, you could join the military this week. If you hate your job so much, do it.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

I’m a few years too old for the military boyo.

Also can’t do chit without money.

I wish. I used to WFH and it was the happiest I’d ever been in my entire adult life. I felt so free. I was able to accomplish more and stick to a healthy lifestyle. My house was organized, I had a stable exercise routine, I was eating fresh home cooked meals daily and getting 8 hours of sleep. I was built like an absolute fkin unit until Biden’s inflation forced me to quit for a higher paying in office job. Been depressed AF ever since. My life has literally been in a downward spiral, my test has plummeted, I became more socially isolated and autistic acting lmao. It’s pathetic. If I had more than $600 in the bank I’d walk out right now but I am the fkin DEFINITION of a wage slave.

I just can’t wait until I’m 65 so I can retire and be free again. I hope and pray every single day that I live long enough to achieve retirement…

It helps me to vent since I don’t have anyone to talk to irl srs. I have a couple friends but I don’t put this negative energy on them. Nobody who actually knows me knows what I’m going through. You brahs are here for me even though I’ve become more hated on the forums since I started venting.

Do whatever you can to escape from there. Take out a loan and start a small business. Use your savings to invest. Anything you can do to escape will improve your life over office prison.
Agreed. Sometimes I dream of cashing out my 401(k) so I can quit and try something new. If I did I could probably scrap together $15k after taxes and early withdrawal penalties. It would be a massive gamble though.

When I was in my early 20s I cashed out my 401(k) to start an Amazon FBA business, I deluded myself into thinking I’d be financially free within a few years fully understanding I was not cut out for the wagie world, but I completely failed, so I don’t have much stomach for risk anymore.

Cuz we evolved to hunt and build ****, not sit down and answer emails all day. Humans never just sat around all day.

Always had the most energy where I was working constantly on my feet all day doing something.

Never listen to any advice SS gives you. It's a trap.

Depends really. My office is decent sized and private. Got nice A/C, few big screens. Office gym is across the hall from me so I can go workout any time I want if I'm not on a call and I get free cappuccinos on tap.

I still only bother going in a couple days a week though and work from home the rest.

Office life itself is just a prison no matter how nice they make your prison cell and no matter how nice your golden handcuffs are.
Yeah you say, that but I've worked building sites when I was younger doing scaffolding & labouring etc. If this is prison then I'm sweet.

It's chronic stress OP caused from mental overload. You ever get that feeling where your brain just can't accept or take in any more input? Your body shuts down. ANd of course when you are hunched over and staring at the screen the whole day, your back, nck, shoulders, eyes etc are all strained.

No hate here, srs. In my place of work I have a few brehs, and we rely on each other to go for a walk/coffee from time to time to 'vent' if needed. If this helps you: good.

As the saying goes, fluorescent lights will suck the life out of you.

In some nutrition books light is mentioned as a nutrient. Most artificial lighting in building is only partial light nutrition. I guess one way to look at it, when growing plants indoors you will want to buy an indoor plant growing light bulb. What is different with an indoor plant light bulb is it, typically, gives off a full spectrum of light similar to what is found with natural sunlight. Animals, humans have some similar characteristics to what plants have. The best known characteristic is when natural sunlight strikes our skin we manufacture a host of nutrients such as vitamin D and nitric oxide. There are some small studies that have found workers working under full spectrum light bulbs/plant light bulbs, the workers are more productive and energetic.

Exactly, you look outside and you see the sun shining you don't want to be cooped up in some stuffy office. You want to be out there doin' stuff like fishing, hiking, having a picnic, or swimming in the water.

Bro people are weird now days. Why should I seek therapy when people are coming up to me talking about their wife's prosthetic leg, purple hair, rupaul super heroes and Harry Potter, and other weird stories? And other than that all people talk about is Netflix and food. I get a weird effeminate vibe from men these days too. At some point I have to question this reality.

Something very weird is happening.

What are you supposed to do when people just stand around talking about Netflix shows, food and how they fixed their car and chit? Nobody talks about anything interesting ever. This is ****ing insane how I have to go sit in the chitter just to get away from this

I find that fitting in little bits of activity helps me during the day. I drop down and do push ups while waiting on the printer, or make an excuse to go put something in the shred bin just to get steps. Keep plenty hydrated so I can take the stairs to go pee, anything I can do to fit in activity.
