UPST earnings next Tuesday. Heavy art mine bags..

Got a question. Why is fed cutting rates? Won't that risk reigniting inflation?

When they cut they will be doing it for a number of reasons but the main one would be a slowing economy as evidenced by the earnings reports we have seen so far this quarter.

The fed is and has been, in part, a political entity for a long time, they said inflation was transitory instead of raising rates in 2021 and that is why we are where we are today.

If the fed began raising earlier then inflation would never have rose to 10%, they did this in a political effort to help Biden, the Fed allowed him to run wild so here we are.

We need inflation when China is eating America's lunch, America should have an economy of 50 trillion by now but Americans in power are giving that wealth to China.

Stocks Are FalteringJuly 29, 2024
Business Insider is reporting that Domino’s carryout business has increased significantly.“Our carryout business is on fire,”CEO Russell Weiner told the outlet.“This is something we didn’t even contemplate years ago.”

The difference, Weiner said, has to do with the type of customers who want delivery versus pickup. According to him, clients who order food for delivery are prepared to pay the additional costs and tip their driverbecause they value convenience. In addition to running its own delivery business, Domino’s Pizza provides delivery via Uber. Roughly 3% of the pizza chain’s sales come from the third-party provider.

However, Weiner added that many U.S. consumers view delivery as an “expensive convenience” and that other more cost-conscious customers understand that they can get “more than another pizza” for the money they spend on delivery costs and tips.

Well if they are able to lower rates by October, pure coincidence, the economy will have euphoria like a crack addict who has been clean getting his first hit of crack in years. Suddenly, by end of Oct, "Biden presided over the best economy of all time"

It is by design, I could go into detail but that is not relevant to trading or investing lol.

I mentioned investing in Chinese stocks way earlier itt so I do put my investments where my mouth is lol.

I don't like that China is going to overtake America but that is not something I can change, what I can do is choose how I invest and attempt to avoid the chaos lol.

If you mean Sebackers, PayPal has been flat / down since he posted that — but I highly doubt he has been sitting in that stock this whole time.

Yeah wasn’t he the fella that always managed to time an exit 10/10 perfect before the position turned on him?

Sofi dropping on a beat lmao. They pretty much always beat estimates, but the reaction is always 50/50. Although the guide for 10 cents EPS for the year is pretty weak. If they pick up their home originations and other odds/ends they’ll be good long term. Still bullish looking out over the next year or so.

Next up waiting to see what PAYO has going. Ideally they have locked in their interest income over a longer duration now that rate cuts are coming in the near future. Hopefully their services can show a profit too so they aren’t strictly making gains on interest.

Egy waiting to see what their drilling campaign has yielded in addition to income from their asset purchase. Their purchase will be offline for a year starting November so unsure if they will rise any further and I’m hoping they announce a bigger dividend going forward with additional buy backs. My position is still fully covered with CCs at $6 so break even is $6.75 in October. A dividend payout mixed with uncertainty will hopefully keep shares in the $6-7 range and I’ll either roll further out at $6 or roll up to $7.

Otherwise slow day despite the earnings.

It is but that is because they are trying to hurt America, they are waiting for the fed to cut rates so that they can eat America's lunch again but after Americans get paid lol.

They are trying to appear weak when they are strong and America is trying to appear strong when we are weak lol.

China and Biden/Dems have been working together against Trump and America at least since 2020 lol.

JD for example is currently at $23 but hit $20 last week, $20 is a unique price JD has hit only 3 other times(2014,2016,2018) and has made significant gains off that low(80%, 150%, 400%).

JD hit the 9(TD) on the monthly on the previous move from $20 and the 8 on the time before that. It is currently past the 9. It is is in a bullish falling wedge pattern and the RSI on the monthly is currently 35.

Every time JD has hit 35 RSI on the monthly it has marked a bottom(2018 400%, 2022 90%) and the lowest it has been is 35.26.

I'm not saying buy Chinese stocks and hold long term or buy puts on the S&P and hold long term but I'm saying there appears to be opportunity there.

That is not my whole thesis and I'm not even saying I'm right or that it's the right move, just that it is worth thinking about.

Man make a thread cuz you seem too smart of a guy to actually believe that only one side of the government is bad, and didn’t trump spend more than any other president and put us more in debt? I could be wrong on that one

Well, you are half right lol I don't think only half the government is bad, I think you can count the good ones on your fingers and toes but even that may be an overestimation, the vast majority of people are not going to risk not only themselves but also their families for dumbass Americans who wouldn't even know it or appreciate it lol.

You are probably right about Trump but to me that shows you how strong the opposition was, he didn't build a wall or deport that many people either but I think he wanted to and could have with cooperation.

Many republicans actively worked against him and even voted for his opposition, many others retired to narrow R majorities in defiance of the People and some even put him under investigation lol.

Bought NVDA calls a minute before close, AMD saved it on chit earnings. With MSFT tanking though and taking all the other big tech down with it I have no idea how this will play out. It could easily be a mass sell off all day at open tomorrow and META probably fails spectacularly on earnings.

The fed increased rates to increase unemployment. The last few months unemployment rate has been increasing. Showing signs the economy is cooling.

Funny story. I walked in to visit one of my teams a week ago and 2 of them were discussing how one just filed for bankruptcy and the other wanted to know how to do it as well. Never heard people talking about it before. Keep in mind these are people with a full time jobs… sounded like credit cards got em both but wasn’t a conversation I wanted to join

Damn, yeah likely. I've been reading and seeing a lot of videos about people with a lot of personal debt; record levels. Likely going to get real bad if we have another '08-09 scenario or recession. Then time for us to buy.

my goodness, not only are you trying to time the market, but you even know the number at which you are going to see the technical reversal?

If NASDAQ stops at around 14,800, you buy, and only after that you see a golden cross on Mac-d on the one hour or a daily chart, or something like that, you need to go and buy a lottery ticket, fuk the market.

I'm just surprised they are cutting rates now given how expensive housing, rent, food, etc is. It's like they want things to get more expensive.

Housing would collapse if they don’t cut. Housing equity is too important and if they don’t cut to allow people to refi to save $$$ and prevent total deterioration of housing value we could see housing market drop 50%. Instead they’ll cut rates and keep the drop to a modest 10-20% from peak in majority of markets. I think y’all can guess why it’s important to keep the decrease at 20% or less
