Just realised what my spiritual journey of 6 years has taught me.

Short version - anytime you try and find happiness in the outside world, you'll end up in serious trouble or you'll at least never feel quite satisfied.

Long version - the human being (Man/Adam) is a spiritual entity controlling a physical body. The human's physical body is much like an animal's, in fact it's made from the same material, and for this reason many people believe that human beings succeeded out of primates through eons of selective breeding pressure being placed upon them.

In the bible it says that God shaped a man out of clay and then breathed life into him, creating a living soul, made in His image; The Creator's image. I see this as God taking life from Himself and breathing it into the clay man, giving him life and animating him into existence.

This soul is in control of the body both in physical and psychological and even physiological ways - of course it's not always that easy. A baby isn't born with the ability to walk, it has to learn. Likewise, we humans must learn how to govern ourselves psychologically and even physiologically.

One of the easiest ways to defile oneself is through excessive materialism and sensation seeking; living for the world, so to speak. Sadly, this seems to be the default or norm in the western world.

To find true happiness we have to live for God and this means not living for the world, which coincidentally enough is what leads to much greater happiness in life anyway - you stop caring about status symbols and getting anything out of anybody. You put your whole faith in God and live your life accordingly.
