Tiktok, insta are all passive engagement for the vast majority of users, there's no community or familiarity aside from that which is held with the "influencer" posting the original content. At least here the OP is more just a stimulus and can be near-forgotten by the time you're on page 2 of a thread as people comment and steer the convo in different directions. Also, there is no nested comments on forums, so you're forced to look over everyone's stuff rather than just drilling down into the comment tree that you choose, underneath whatever the original post was (that sits at the top of the screen in video/image form) most of the time.
