IQ is processing speed, intelligence is IQ through the correct vector.

Intellect is one aspect of intelligence and can get you pretty far in the modern day world, although if utilised incorrectly you might end up believing that humans evolved from monkeys - otherwise, there are other forms of intelligence that might not be as important these days.

When speaking about regular day to day intelligence or what people refer to as being smart, an easy way to assess someone's intelligence is just based off of their vocabulary and verbal reasoning ability.

Otherwise, it's always good to question things and remain objective and rational - this too is a sign of intelligence and stops your intellect from running wild.

Working in sales you'd know first hand how often you throw in red-herrings and the like to manipulate someone and get them to draw conclusions (whether consciously or unconsciously) and preemptively handle objections.

In this instance you need intuition to feel that something is off and that this person is manipulating me.

You can have smart NPCs and stupid NPCs. Likewise you can have smart, aware people and stupid but still aware people.

Whether or not somebody is an NPC is a balls thing, not a brains thing. It's about whether somebody has the balls to go against whatever belief is socially acceptable and think/say what his brain can really come up with. It is good to be one of the ones with balls who can even make the thought that the established stuff is bullchit, but that doesnt make you smart. There are lots of smart people who can be good surgeons, programmers, and so on, and will mentally clobber you when it comes to things they are allowed to think about.

It's good to take a step back and know your limits and what you're good at.

There's no such thing as NPCs, there's just people with different beliefs. Believe it or not, but some people think that turning little boys into girls is normal just as some people think having sexual relations with children is OK. Whether some people are more easily brainwashed is another matter altogether.

In general though, IQ and openness (curiosity, willingness to ask questions and try new things) are positively correlated with an r-value of 0.17. By social science standards, that's a weak but meaningful correlation. In comparison, the other four of the Big Five have a correlation of literally 0.02 or under, so increased curiosity is theonlypersonality trait that tracks with IQ. As far as what intelligence is - we don't actually phuckin know. We know that IQ tests correlate really well with intelligence-like things we observe, but we don't know the causation behind that, or the actual mechanism of action. It's like saying that we know pushing our car's gas pedal raises our sped0meter with a correlation of r=0.7, but we don't know what an engine is cause we've never been able to open our car's hood.
