lol, to be fair it's not really hate against the English; the people's the Romans are referring to are Celts with their druid culture, they aren't the Anglo-Saxon descendants of modern Britain outside of maybe places like Wales & Scotland, where the celts held out for the longest against Roman incursions (iirc Agricola actually pushed into Scotland and his fleet circumnavigated Britain, but Hadrian decided it wasn't worth the effort to maintain the hold on 'Caledonia'(Scotland) and built his wall). Mainland brits are mostly Germanic.

Do you really think Germanic people were any better back then? This wouldn't have been exclusive to the English either, Germanic people around Europe wereextremelyprimitive compared to the Romans. In addition to this the English can trace a lot of their roots back to the Britons, not just Germanic tribes.

I'm not saying they were better, simply put that he's talking about the Celts and the Romans had a completely different set of stereotypes for Germanic peoples vs celts (even though they were probably from a common origin far back enough), so it's not specifically offensive to (modern) English as you thought, that's really all my post was about.

Also, the Anglo Saxons that later came to England were by then Romanized to some degree from Germany, Jutland and other areas, so the Anglo-Saxons that came to England were at least more 'civilized' than the Celts of Cicero & Caesars time, and very different to the people Caesar faced when he came to Britain, whether that makes them 'better' or not is of course an opinion and not that important to the point i was making. Of course modern Englishmen will still havesomeceltic blood because that's the nature of ethnic mixing, but significantly more anglo-saxon blood. The majority of those who are likely still closer to the celts of Britain genetically, are likely the Welsh & Scottish because as previously mentioned, Wales was the last holdout (until Seutonius Paulus' campaigns) and Rome gave up on Caledonia (i.e Scotland) when they deemed it not worth the effort to annex.

I took the time to point it out because I read a lot of Roman history and enjoy talking about it, and this is a discussion board, it's really not that deep. But i guess since it's the misc i should stick to posting about jews, race bait, and trannies right? The real question is why you took the time to be so offended by my post, it wasn't intended to attack you or your post, just add some supplementary information, i find their observations quite hilarious.
