one morning a Jehova chap comes knocking on the door and I felt that kind of nonconfrontational "frisky confident vibe" that we could engage in a respectable chat
he first tried to lure me in with the FEAR mongering asking me if I have noticed how bad things are/getting....
I responded, I don't know man, looks like a pretty marvelous day out, sun is shining, I don't see the Mongol Horde or Hitler Invading, Christians being executed in Colosseum or Gas Chambers, Slaves being Sold in the Public Square....going to go upstairs and enjoy some cafe tunes, coffee, cookies, and a good book, then maybe take stroll over at the park, going to be a GREAT DAY
he stood there with the face of confused enlightenment. He looked like he had just woken-up in some alternate reality not knowing who/what/when/where....then is literally scratched his head like he was removing the cobwebs....gave a kind of confused chuckle and said: "yeah, you're kinda right, have a good one"....and then went on his way
whole conversation was quicker than it took to compose this message
usually I don't engage the Mormons/Jehovas...they're not going to change my mind and not REALLY interested in my ideas even though they may ask and I don't really want to change them either because most seem like pretty good folks and they are walking their path, so who am I to try and change them....
anyway, it was just one of those rare good moments where me and that chap kinda "clicked"...there was just kind of a cool respectful vibe that day
life is like that declaration in "Tale of Two Cities": "It was the Best of Times....it was the Worst of Times"

He said, βOh, like youβre doing now?β
I was taken aback, and all I could say was βHuh?β but he kept cutting me off and going βhuh? huh? huh?β and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like βSir, you need to pay for those first.β At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually βto prevent any electrical infetterence,β and then turned around and winked at me. I donβt even think thatβs a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I often wonder if Baghdad was never destroyed, would the Golden Age of Islam have persisted and we would have seen today a more moderate, open-minded, less orthodox type of Islam/Islamic practices and perhaps an entirely different type of Middle East (i.e. less conflict, more developed, better relations with Europe etc)

Imagine having 5+ centuries full of fine goods, gold, etc and the Mongols take it all, then rip out everyone of the royal crypts from those past centuries, take all their chit and burn them too. Ruthless.
