Russia sentences American woman to 12 years for donating $50 to Ukraine

US-Russian dual national Ksenia Khavana has been sentenced to 12 years in a Russian prison for treason after allegedly raising money for the Ukrainian military.

Khavana was convicted on charges linked to a $51 (€46) donation to a US charity.

Russia’s Federal Security Service said she “proactively collected money in the interests of one of the Ukrainian organisations, which was subsequently used to purchase tactical medical supplies, equipment, weapons, and ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”

There would be a firestorm in the media if this ever happened in the United States. People here are super up in arms about their civil rights and freedoms. But treason is treason and Russia is in active conflict with Ukraine. I’m not educated enough to speak on the conflict itself. I like Russia and its culture/women but also one of my favorite contemporary rock bands is Ukrainian so definitely makes things tough.

Do I think her punishment is excessive hard to tell honestly from my perspective.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

In all honesty, its a good thing Russia exist. They're the only ones that's able to stop the West from the cold war era. If the US wouldn't be kept in check by the Russians, the US would've tried to take a lot of land from around the world. And because Russia exist next the the Asian giant, they have no choice but to be allies with the Asians, otherwise caucasians would take 4/6th of all major continents through force. Caucasians are finding it more difficult to control other countries as they continue to become militarily competitive.

What does this all mean? It means things are becoming increasingly competitive and you have to really find ways to offer more.

In Australia when muslims send money to their cousins overseas who are fighting wars, we call that terrorism.

12 years is ridiculous, there's no doubt about that. Otherwise, she does not have an american name, but a Russian one (Ksenia). If she doesn't like the current regime in Russia and has an American citizenship, she shouldn't spend time in russia and should instead live in the states and work there, so help fund Ukraine's war effort.

It rather depends on if Starmer decides to extend these powers to cover other things-then it becomes dystopian & like 1984.
