Marriage is an absolutely archaic concept
It blows my mind that, with all the social and societal progress that we've had, people still think it's appropriate for a man to go buy a ring and drop on his knees in front of a woman in the 2020s when women are literally MORE successful than men are.
Marriage should have been left in the 20th century because that's where we left all the societal norms that it was based on in the first place.

Women are only "more" successful because simps throw money/views at them (see average looking woman playing average guitar on YouTube or doing sinple repairs on a car, 100M veiws) and every company and university has been giving women spots over men for decades.

It's essential if you have children, otherwise I don't see the point other than to satisfy a desire for a sense of security. In which case I think that's a little silly.

Don't need to be married to be with a partner for life or to be committed these days.

Marriage is pretty one sided. Men get a free servant.

On the contrary, what you described is themodernversion of marriage. The version that has existed throughout most of history has been an arrangement for children and/or inheritance.

According to Chatgpt, the historical purpose of marriage was:
-Social and Economic Alliance: Historically, marriage was often about forming alliances between families, tribes, or nations. It was a way to strengthen social ties and secure economic stability.
-Property and Inheritance: Marriage was a legal institution that ensured the orderly transfer of property and wealth, often keeping assets within certain families or social classes.
-Legitimacy and Procreation: Marriage provided a socially recognized framework for having and raising children, which was important for maintaining family lineage and inheritance rights.
-Social Order: Marriage helped establish social norms and structure, defining roles and responsibilities within a family and society.
Which ones no longer apply to 2024 and beyond?

still a legal institution but shouldn't be. its not necessary to transfer wealth or property by marriage, it can be done by will/probate. does help with things like insurance and for some situations tax advantages.
still provides a socially recognized framework for children. thats the big one that still applies.
the last one SHOULD still be true, but liberals don't want definitions for roles and responsibilities anymore. So in clown world, this is disappearing rapidly.

I don't really care for the institution of marriage but it does make a difference in taxes and a big difference in power of attorney
