could be many things brah, but usually (if not alcohol/drugs related) it's conditioning with bed = stress/anxiety/can't sleep -> laying awake all night conditioning yourself even more. it's a vicious cycle that you have to break asap. Read about CBT-I and/or Sleep Deprivation Therapy and avoid sleeping drugs at all costs.

Mostly this, it's strongly related to anxiety and mental health disorders.

I don't have insomnia anymore but I had a bad problem for about 18 months.

The biggest things that helped me were reducing stress on my job and finding social connection. Finding someone to sleep next and hold at night to also helped me a lot, even if they weren't a "forever" girl.

All the other advice I got online and from doctors wasn't worth a damn including

- exercise
- meditate
- sleep deprivation
- cool dark room

If you're in rough situation I would try to change that and the sleep will probably follow. It took me about 9 months after improving my situation for my sleep to get back to normal.

Also, resting your eyes and not moving regenerates the body.

Werd. Just lying there still with eyes closed is still SOME rest and much better than if you had been sitting watching TV all night or playing vidya games.

If I am sleepless it is usually one of the following causes

over consumption of caffeine
worry/anxiety
watching something very exciting before bed and being pumped up
too hot or too cold in room
didn't burn energy during day and didn't really need sleep
Cook the man some eggs!

OP. There have been studies that show that bald men have more trouble sleeping versus men with full heads of hair. Rollerball also had insomnia. Wear a beanie or cap to sleep and see if that helps.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

My insomnia went away when I improved my diet, started exercising daily, started going to bed and getting up consistently at the same times, and eliminated caffeine afternoon. Screens before bed don't really seem to affect me, but shutting them off at least an hour before bed seems to be recommended.
