Is there any company that went from loved to hated quite like Google?

Back in the 00's it seems like everyone was in love with Google, thinking of it as one of the best tech companies. Now everyone seems to hate Google, thinking of it as one of the most dystopian tech companies.

The data mining crap all computer companies do is insane. We are subhuman things on a bunch of virtual plantations meant to be perpetual consumers so the rich can stay that way.

Google pushed the ”Don’t be evil” motto up until 2018 when they essentially removed it. Always struck me as strange.
