You guys think sports gambling will still be legal in 20 years?

Seems like a lot of people are waking up after seeing friends/family/coworkers get cleaned out by DraftKings.

4 Years after legalizing sports betting in a state, bankruptcies increase 25%

These companies are run by ghouls who exist to suck the life out of young men.

I predict a movement aimed at making it illegal in a few years, similar to the prohibition movement, but ultimately I see it falling flat due to arguments about freedom, personal responsibility and the temporarily embarrassed millionaire mindset

If it makes corporations rich, don't expect it going anywhere
Have fun and be yourself :-)

Horrendous sports gambling addiction

I'm a car salesman. I've made 150-220K basically for 11 years. I'm 35 years old. I have absolutely nothing. I have maybe 13k saved, 80-90K in debt, no 401k. I used to have a 300-400k net worth and I've burned it all on a ferocious sports gambling addiction. It's been an up and down thing - in 2020, I hit a monster hot streak and was up to 500K positive. Then I lost it all, I got up big a few more times and then lost a lot more again. The last straw here was I switched dealers and I had 35K in a 401k and I figured I would hit one last big parlay and get out. I turned the 35K into 50K with bonuses...and I proceeded to lose 20 straight parlays in a row. It's just ****ing incredible.

Mathematically, the odds are I would have won 2-4 of those parlays and I've lost EVERY SINGLE FCCKING ONE. I just lost the last one now and I'm so immensely devastated, I can't even describe it. I've had several parlays in this stretch that have lost in the most soul crushing way imaginable - I had a 4 legger that I won the first 3 easily and the 4th one, my team was up 2-1 in 9th inning and gave up a 2 run homerun, then followed that up getting runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and couldn't even tie the fcking game bottom of the 9th inning.A long with this gambling disaster from switching dealers, I was talking into coming here by an old friend and everything seemed good. The first 10 days here have been fcking awful. I sold 21-28 cars every month at my last store this year and made about 20k a month. I've made 2500 so far in 10 days. I've gone through 10 or 11 customers in a row with no deals. I'm starting to seriously wonder if I made a big mistake coming here. The client base is just much much more difficult. It's the same brand so I don't think the client base should be much difficult - maybe I'm just having an awful unusual month but it's hard to not get depressed.

I just don't know what to do. Honestly I almost want to kill myself to not feel this incredible emptiness but I have a beautiful and amazing wife that I know would kill her. She's forgiven me for all my gambling fckups (although she doesn't know about this last 35K that I had in my 401k)

No too much money to be made. No one really cares if lives get ruined.

Government isn’t making laws and banning things out of public interest.

Part of me wishes sports in general would fall apart. So many people obsessed with it but there’s a long way to go before it happens, if it happens at all.

Right now it feels like sports is sort of pushing Hollywood to the side as the top form of entertainment. In many ways it’s arguably at its peak. In contrast you see actors and actresses on the decline both financially and celebrity status. Athletes have more name recognition than ever before. Even 18 year old college kids are multi millionaires now.

One day sports will descend from this peak too, but I doubt any of us see it, or we’ll be like 80 years old maybe.
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

It should stay legal. People should be smart enough to stay away. As an adult, you should be able to do whatever you want as long as you don't harm others. If you ruin your life, that's on you.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

Just don't get addicted.

I drop the odd parlay on a UFC card for fun. £20-£50, if it hits it hits and if it doesn't then oh well. Anyone that continues to run that game knowing full well the entire purpose is to rinse you in the first place deserves to be skinned for it.
