Probably not

Even the ones who retired early

Your baseline happiness doesn't change all that much

It eventually becomes your new normal and you return to about the same level of happiness you were when you were working

In fact a lot of people who retire become less happy in the long run

That's why oldies sometimes return to do some part time work even if they're financially set

Traveling, playing golf, renovating their house, keeping a pristine lawn, and other such things that oldtimers concern themselves with after they retire just don't do it

Sounds like you don’t hate your job enough

People who dont enjoy retirement just dont have any hobbies

One of the owners from my old company could've retired. Dude was pretty well off. But he had no real hobbies and just loved working. Unfortunately ended up dying from all the smoking a cigarettes. Had pneumonia and stage 4 lung cancer at 67.

To some extent - yes. I did some volunteer work right out of college years ago. A lot of the other volunteers were retirees who wanted something to do throughout the day. Having nothing to do becomes a drag after a while

it's kinda sad that people look forward to this but there's a lot of moving parts to life so they have no idea what life will be like when they get there. in their minds they think they'll retire at 65 and feel great for another 30 years.
