New movie "Send Help" has 94% on RT
I saw the previews for this movie a few times during my trips to the theaters. I didn't have this one on my radar much; I didn't think it'd be above average. But the reviews right now are really strong. It's from the director of the Tobey Maguire Spiderman and Evil Dead reboot movies
The movie stars Rachel McAdams. She plays an employee who ends up stranded on an island with her abusive boss. In the island, the tables turn because McAdams has survival skills while her boss doesn't. The film is a dark comedy, and apparently, there are some twists along the way

NO SPOILERS
.
.
.
I saw "Send Help" on 01/29/2026. It's not excellent or memorable, but it's a watchable popcorn flick.
I'll start with what I like -- McAdams and/or O'Brien appear in about every scene, and I think both of them, while not fantastic, are serviceable ... I had actually read a review that somehow characterized this movie as "psychological thriller." In truth, this movie is quite campy. It's not Cast Away or The Blue Lagoon. The plot is not believable in the slightest, character behavior is often cartoonish, and several scenes get wildly exaggerated for effect. The movie truly ventures into ridiculousness by the end. ... But ultimately, I think the campiness works. A bunch of scenes got loud laughters throughout my screening; I myself chuckled more than once. In the scenes leading right up to the finale, I felt as if anything could have happened. Without spoiling, I'll say that the movie remarkably plays on the viewer's loyalties towards one character over another
The movie doesn't go from "watchable" to "exceptional' for a few reasons. The opening section (i.e. the pre-island portion) needed to be a little more developed. There could have been more details about their office relationship as well as the lifestyle of McAdams's character. Some of their island scenes seem to cover the same ground more than once ... the movie has multiple twists, but some of them are obvious from the start. The ending is more safe and predictable than I figured it'd be. The dialogue is not original or clever. Lastly - I really could've done without some of the grossed-out sequences, like close-up shots of tuna on a character's chin
5.5/10

I love Teen Wolf and Rachel McAdams but I hate horror movies. I’m torn haha have people seen it? I can tolerate some horror movies - like I love the Saw franchise and AHS.

A couple of online reviewers I follow and like opinions from said it's great. Won't see it in theaters but will probably watch it.
