Finally opened up to my wife about my alcohol use...
We are in a marriage of nearly 8 years and we are doing fine...but I had been consuming some alcohol behind her back (like whenever she was not around for a few days) and more so before marriage....
This one time she was able to sniff the bedsheet and repeatedly asked me if I was drinking any alcohol behind her back and forced me to confess it. She is not angry about it, but not happy either. Now she keeps on asking me how much I drink, what I drink, how much time I drink, what I do when I am drunk and I have to keep on telling her everything.
Might as well seek her permission the next time I drink, maybe do it in front of her and maybe even convince her to try some with me.
Interesting times ahead for me...alcohol is an adventure of it's own...

I never turned into an alcoholic, but did lots of it and enjoyed it. Everything was slashed by 80% after marriage because I didn't want to do it around my wife.

Lying about who you are will not benefit you in any way
You're only doing it because you dont want to deal with the repercussions
You're degrading trust in the process
We all have our problems ,but poison will kill you from the inside out
Its the people that care about you ,or poison
Only you can decide
No reason to make it worse with dishonesty

If you lose your wife over alcohol youre gonna kill yourself.
You need to start getting sober. Go to AA meeting today and create a plan. Youll get friends there too

What do you know about relationships? You're 26 and haven't ever been in any meaningful relationship other than with other female drug heads like yourself.
Respectfully, reserve your shit advice before you ruin some strangers life.

With regards to replies above, there is some good advice but thumbs down also. But you all are making it look like as if I am some kind of alcoholic or heading in that direction and I am not doing that, it's just fun thing done in limitations and responsibly.

I’m an expert on alcoholism, as my dad was an alcohol , and obviously from my threads I’m an alcoholic. But my father and I are much different.
My dad woke up just to drink himself into oblivion daily . I have some of my mother’s genes luckily, and can’t tolerate alcohol very often . Typically get rinsed a dozen times a year , but if you’re drinking daily you are on a path of destruction just like my father .
I have no idea how someone gets up and mainly thinks about alcohol, but it happens as I’ve witnessed it .
My mom used to freak and for good reason. My father was our main provider, so obviously she doesn’t want to see him lose his job .
The problem is it’s impossible to help someone who doesn’t want to help themselves. What keeps me going is the thought that someday I can get rinsed again . It may not be for 3 months , but knowing I can helps .
So I can understand why it’s so hard to quit cold turkey . If I were you I’d be weaning myself off slowly . I don’t think cold turkey is going to work for you , but cutting back more and more may help .
Tell yourself there’s always going to be an opportunity to get drunk again, but not for a while , if ever

Might as well be honest and tell her "this is just how it is babe."
People that don't drink can smell alcohol a mile away on your body, breath, bedroom etc. People that do drink have dulled sense of smell and think bc they can't smell it that they're good.
I went to see my best friend from high school years ago in Jackson Hole. He roomed with a guy from hs. All his roommate did was drink. I'm talking every single night, and first thing in the morning would pour a big half solo cup of vodka mixed drink to go to work. I was just like "my god man what is wrong with you?" His entire bedroom REEKED of whatever that BO smell is that alcohol produces. He even showered and brushed his teeth, and it wasn't alcohol that I was smelling but was just in general like "bro you fucking stink something awful. You're seriously going to go into work looking and smelling like this?" Alcoholics or people on bingers just have this disgusting smell about them. There's no hiding it.

Ive been sober for a while now i never crave a buzz anymore.
In order for sobriety to feel great you need to first get sober, then fix the underlying issue that draws u to drink in the first place. If you say its boredom im sorry youre frauding yourself.
