Go to the gym and do everything but work hard and try to lose weight.

They'll walk in the door, walk right past the treadmills, past the ellipticals, past the stairclimber, and go right the weight section and plop down and do halfassed 3 x 10's. Burn and total of like 6 calories and basically be in the way.

actually building muscle is better to lose fat than cardio because muscle burns fat all day instead of cardio just in the moment

plus better for testosterone which burns fat

I have no idea. I'm actually working out to notice
"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Weight loss happens in the kitchen. The gym is like 10% of it.

Cardio doesn't burn fat. No wonder they walk right past them.

A pound of muscle will burn around 6-10 calories a day at rest. A pound of fat will burn around 2 calories per day at rest. Increasing muscle mass is a far better strategy to assist with fat loss.

Failing that, a 3500cal/week deficit with sufficient carb and protein to maintain muscle mass should see a pound of fat dropped a week.

Cardio is for your heart and lung health, not for weight loss.

I've tried a lot of things over the years and my conclusion is that cardio is better than calorie restriction. Yes calorie restriction leads to weight loss but I found that I was a smaller version of myself rather than a leaner version of myself.

I was running 3 times a week this summer and fall and still had a 6 pack even though I was eating a pint of Haagen Daaz a day.

The caveat is that I'm talking about running hard to the point where it's extremely painful, not casually walking on an elliptical. The funning thing is that lifters think they're tough. Lifting doesn't take much willpower though, running hard takes a lot of willpower.

It's closer to like 30-50 calories a day that a pound of muscle burns.

Fat is burned in a particular heart rate zone

What you do to get into that zone doesn't matter ,nor does body comp

They're clown shows now. The clownishness peaked around Covid and it's a little better now, but gym culture is a joke compared to 10 years ago
