I went to see 1999's "She's All That" at the theaters on 02/4/2026 as part of Regal theater's special screenings. I'd seen it a few times over the years, but it was my first viewiing in a theater. I like the movie, however flawed it may be. I consider it a classic.

I like the casting all-around ... Rachael Leigh Cook is just adorable; and Freddie Prinze Jr is likeable as well. I think they have good on-screen chemistry. The supporting cast delivers too: many are quite recognizable today, like Paul Walker, Usher, Gabrielle Union, Matthew Lillard, Kieran Culkin, Kevin Pollak, Anna Paquin, and others (note: it's so cool that this movie can now boast that it has two Oscar winners) ... The pacing is smooth from start to end. A lot of the jokes work. And there's a wonderful song in "Kiss Me."

I still see the obvious flaws though. The first is that the acting is quite bad. Paul Walker, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Rachael Leigh Cook deliver many awkward, fake-looking dialogue and facial expressions.

In addition, the premise gets a bit too laughable because Rachael Leigh Cook is supposed to be ugly at the start just because she wears glasses and has a ponytail. In truth, she was still prettier than all the other women even at the start. The movie rightfully got mocked for its execution of the premise

But regardless of the flaws - it's a very fun movie. It really captures the feel of the 1990s. I wish that era never ended

I just watched this last night on ROKU free tv...6 souls w/ Julianne Moore. I thought it was a very good movie that i never even heard before. Sorta like Denzels 'Fallen'. Check it out if you haven't seen it.

A lot of good movies are on Roku free TV. I also have a Vizio TV, and they have a similar program that offers free movies. Between the two, I recently watched Frozen (6/10), Hereditary (7/10), The Pianist (9/10), Places in the Heart (8.5/10), The Spitfire Grill (6/10), Bernie (6/10).

I also have Tender Mercies (1983) bookmarked for my next viewing. Robert Duvall won his Oscar for that movie
