It's pretty incredible how quickly they can build houses srs

My neighborhood is a new construction. They can throw these houses up like it's nothing. This house was nothing but a foundation I swear like 2 weeks ago.

Trash quality paper and wooden stick houses are fast to bulld yes. A proper, solid and quality construction takes a lot longer.

Yeah they build them cheap as fuck but charge a small fortune

They won't last 150 years like they used to

Have you seen they don't even use water pipes anymore but run cheap plastic tubes? Good luck trying to find that in your wall and replace it

Permitting is the part that takes the longest, with builders assuming the township isn't a PITA subs show up and run like clockwork if the builder knows what they're doing.

I know a guy with a new construction 2016 house and the dumb asses built the back porch slope angled towards his house so every time it rained hard it flooded his back room and his insurance said it's fine he had to sue his insurance or builder to finally get them to pay for it and put up like 30-40k in lawyers before he finally got reimbursed and they finally fixed it

Im a crane operator and i get only 4-6months of work for an 6 story appartment building.

How many houses have fallen apart that were built in the 1800?

You're pointing to a biased sample. And "all over" is an extreme exaggeration. The ones that have survived were the good ones, sure, but the overwhelming majority of bad ones no longer exist you moron.

Even for the outliers of old homes still standing in NE newer homes are far more energy efficient.

Anyone who buys a home 50+ years old is a moron. It's one thing to inherit it but another to actually think that's a better purchase. But go ahead and waste your money on all those superior older homes LMAO

The current home i live in was built in the 50s and is 100x better than the childhood house i grew up in that was remoddeld in 2005 and sold for over a million.

Years ago the houses were built by craftsman that took pride in their work and built them by themselves.

I'm not saying you don't have a good house. To still be standing for when it was built obviously was a good house but to think it's going to be advantageous to newer homes is really some next level cope. Most on here just want to hate on anything new to sound cool or edgy and reject modern society. It's misc mentality 101 in 2026 sadly

I live in NY bro gas and electric are high here

I’m getting solar panels in spring to hopefully help take some of that high electric bills down
