I did a ton of research and finally relented and went with Apple Studio 27” monitors. Mainly because I wanted a calibrated 5K monitor for photo editing.
I have to say I love the picture quality srs . Even had people who edit videos mention they were very impressed with the picture quality also .
I have an ultra wide oled for gaming ,but for photography, Apple ftw sts , and it’s not even close .
Oh and yes it sucks that it doesn’t work well with a windows computer. I read it works but you have no controls to change it’s settings
Bought one but said fk it get another . I watch tutorials on the one on the right
Sad part is I’ve used this system twice since I bought it 2 years ago lol

I can definitely relate. I have been researching monitors for 3 years or so and reading tons of real world user reviews. The conclusion is that everything except for apple is a steaming pile of shit, at least to those people with high standards.
The aesthetical factor is huge for me perspnally, I don't want a big ugly piece of shit on my desk anymore. I can't take it anymore. Therefore considering the apple display 2 when it comes out. What sucks is as you mentioned the controls won't work on windows and I don't have a Mac to calibrate it. I will be using it mainly for work which is on a company laptop on which I can't install jack shit
But I might be able to calibrate the controls (brightness etc) on my private windows or Linux pcs using specific software to do so.

Honestly 24" 6-8k might be optimal, but since it doesn't exist I am going to go for 27" 5k apple display 2 which is coming out soon
