Can't get onto this site now on work computer

Wtf, ever since yesterday can't get on. Tried several browsers. Cleared cache from last 7 days. Still nothing. Phone im OK. This fkn sucks

This is strange. I was about to ask you to try private or incognito mode, but you mentioned you've already tried multiple browsers...

There are no changes since yesterday. If you get any status codes i.e. 50X, 40X the problem is on my end. You get nothing, so there is likely something blocking you. If you have tried to connect from different networks and it did not work it might be local to your PC. If you could try another computer on the same network we can rule out if there is some central firewall (or rather proxy) blocking you.

If you open the PowerShell application and try these commands:

ping.exe forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com

and

nslookup forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com

it will reveal if your computer is able to resolve DNS and make a connection to the site.

Ttried the above, first one did 4 pings and -request failed'
2nd one automatically wouldnt go thru but didnt say anything that I can remember. I dunno if its the vpn, firewall who knows but I did just notice the VPN is working thru wifi when it usually makes me reconnect..so maybe ill try unhooking that and see but thats gonna be later on and still won't be able to keep it off without work IT breathing down my neck

Sorry, ignore the ping.exe test it will not work.

nslookup.exe should however work and it should resolve and show IP address 3.84.217.34 (forum.obnoxiousbrutes.com). If you can't see this IP your DNS is not working properly or it is blocked by your IT.

Another test you can do is visit the IP directly:

https://3.84.217.34

If you reach the servers you will get a warning that the "Connection is not private" or equivalent. If you ignore the warning and press on you should get a 503. That is "good", as it is further evidence that something is wrong/blocking DNS.

Let me know how it goes.

In almost all cases, this is handled automatically, and it usually works the other way around. The IT/SEC team subscribes to a large whitelist of “work-safe” URLs and blocks everything else. It’s common for corporations to block all social media sites except LinkedIn, since it’s used for recruitment.

To be clear, nobody is inspecting every site on the web. They simply enforce a broad policy that blocks anything deemed non-work-related, and then deal with numerous employees submitting whitelist requests.

I am not sure this is the case for Rich though.

Are you sure you weren't trying to connect to NewMisc instead of here?

I accidentally did that just now when testing to see if various VPNs worked. It wasn't connecting, then I realized I had typed NewMisc by mistake
