Were your parents from the same social class?

And if not, how did they end up together?

I feel like most couples are generally share a similar socioeconomic background, but I am always fascinated when let’s say an educated rich girl marries a broke ex-con or whatever.

Mine were both lower class when I was born. Both 20 years old. My dad was a tradie/warehouse worker from a 2 parent household and my mom was a high school dropout waitress raised by a single mom.

My mom eventually ended up getting a high paying job in her 30s and is now upper middle class, probably will be able to retire by 55. My dad never made it out of the working class, but he did sacrifice his life to raise me solo, so I am grateful.

What about your folks?

Pretty much. Both college degrees (engineer/teacher) with tradie parents (lineman/machinist). They met at church through mutual friends.

Edit: Should add that my wife and I are not. I have an engineering degree and grew up middle class. She never finished secondary school (basically cheated out of it by corruption) and her father pretty much worked as a laborer followed by subsistence fishing. That said, she's now one of the top florists in the Houston area.

No, my mom's dad was an attorney, my dad's dad learned to be a mechanic in the army and owned gas/service stations. They met in high school, my mom was a cheerleader at an all girl's school, my dad was a d-1 recruit in football at an all boy's school. He became a doctor, she became a housewife. The end.

My dad grew up fairly wealthy but wealthy hillbilly types. My mom grew up very middle class, but she went to private school and had friends who were very wealthy boat & country club types.

They weren’t in the same class, but in terms of how they present themselves, my mom is in a higher class.

Mom and dad worked at the same company. My mom probably was just a secretary, she mentioned she didn't do well in her exams. My dad studied german translation iirc, I remember he used to travel germany lol

Left it all behind and immigrated to canada in 96 lol

Now my dad is almost retired diesel mechanic/ part time plumber, and my mom is retired after working as a department manager lol

No, my mother was middle class, my father was in essence homeless and on his own from when he was 7 years old.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.
