I think the real issue is movies just suck now, I don't think its the actors I think its the writing and production

I think it's because of social media and short form content.

I remember Matt Damon recently talking about how they make movies now for people who scroll on reels and have a 30s attention span.

We've replaced movie stars with streamers and people who clip them.

Sad.

Maybe stop doing shitty remakes of old classics or come up with something original.

Went to see Wuthering Heights with the gf Saturday night. If you hadn't have read the book (I haven't, I don't read - she's read it five times) you'd have even less clue what's going on. She's explained the story to me then after we saw the movie she asked how I interpreted it. I told her, truthfully, that rich young sloot finds poverty kid - she falls in love with another guy and gets married, kid takes off, sloot misses kid, he comes back after 5 years rich as fuck, they have an affair, she has pregnancy complications with her and her husbands kid, she dies, kid she loved from the start hugs her dead body and cries. Absolutely no fucking point to this story at all. She then informs me that it's a partial retelling while missing critical points of the story which pissed her off and probably contributed to the shitty reviews.

Final verdict? Some tame, softcore Margot Robbie p0rn. That's it. That's the Hollyweird interpretation of a literary classic. What's where we're at in 2026.

There were a bunch of decent horror and thriller flicks made the last two years - Bring Her Back, Sinners, Blink Twice (despite the obvious preachy woman power revenge story - still entertaining as fuck and Christian Slater is always funny), Heretic, anything that involves the Knives Out stuff, Weapons - but very sparse offerings versus the constant shit being produced right now. Especially when the movie is changed to have a black female power lead like The Little Mermaid was done.
