Not that dumb. The transplanted hair should still remain but yet you will continue to lose the other hair you did have. It makes sense to do if your plan is to continue having transplants to the point where your entire affected area is transplanted hair I suppose.
If you're only wanting to have 1 transplant and expecting to have perfect hair forever afterward it's probably unrealistic though.

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

if you aren't willing to take fin or dut, imo, you shouldn't get a transplant as it's really just a big waste of time and money on a long enough timeline

I was on dutasteride for 5 years consistently before I got mine and plan on taking it for the rest of my life.
I could be wrong but from what I understand transplanted hairs are resistant to dht and obviously native hairs in the recipient area aren’t.
So for example if you get a hairline transplant you could be in a situation where you get a solid front part of the hairline but then over time the hair behind it continues to minituarize leading to a situation where you have a bald patch between the hairline mid scalp.
With the crown this would show up as a weird island shape.

I would rather be bald than take DHT blockers. Thank God I have good hair genes, and my hair is thick as fuck. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

Also there is always some.risk.with any surgery
You don't want to see the pics when it gets infected. So if you can minimize that risk with less surgeries that is always good
