Thinking of buying some DG and Blackrock since those were my best returns and they’ve both dipped like 13% over past few weeks

IMO this is not the time to buy the dip, it's a time to panic before everyone else does.

The oil traders I follow on twitter are all really nervous about what's going on. They're writing that there will be shortages soon unless the Strait immediately reopens, and even then there would be a few months of supply-chain disruptions that would keep oil prices high, like what happened during Covid. These are credible guys with years of experience, not alarmists.

And there's no sign the Iranians are going to reopen it soon. They seem to want to inflict as much political damage as they can on Israel and the U.S., and Trump for his part seems to be in a daze: he knows the attack was a mistake and things are spinning out of control but has no idea what to do, so he's just flailing, saying things to talk up the market and hoping something bails him out.

When oil tankers leave the Middle East, they take 10-30 days to reach refineries, then the refineries take more time to turn crude oil into gas, diesel, jet fuel, etc. I think that lag has made traders complacent: shortages didn't happen immediately, so people don't comprehend that they're coming soon. Shortages could last a while too: when oil fields are shut in and refineries are shut down, restarting them typically takes weeks.

The market has quickly bounced back from every selloff, from Covid to Liberation Day, and that's trained people to buy the dip. But I think it's the wrong reaction in this case.

Idk about dip, but I'm young enough that this is a minor blip in a much larger time horizon. Just buy the same amount and DCA into ETFs. Makes no difference
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
