I was 2 years into my marriage, things were good, living in the first house I bought, that was cool.
Honestly in retrospect, I didn't know much about life back then, I was optomistic but had no idea what the future would hold. In a lot of ways I'm happier now, but not optomistic anymore, it's more like strategic about my future. I miss being optomistic and thinking things would work out. Now I don't think anything will work out unless I make it work out.

But also life makes plans for you. To be fair, at 51 you could live till 91 and that is another 40 years of life

Again? I'm 29 right now.
It's a good age though. The thought of turning 30 makes me sick to my stomach (srs). Even though not much will change, it feels massive.

It’s a cold, bleak looking future. I got your back, hopefully you got mine.

29 was a good year for me. Finally made decent scratch to do things, lived with my wife and we had a strong network of friends still. We moved a couple years later so its been less friends but overall still dope.

I have one exception, when I was 29, I had a horrible job at a hospital in their finance team, I just wanted out desperately. I was ready to take a job as an assistant controller at some art supply company, and the ceo was a jew, he mocked me in the interview for going to Notre Dame because it's a Catholic School. "Oh how the mighty have fallen, now you want a job from me". I took the other job at some weird healthcare company because the cfo went to Northwestern and the controller went to University of Chicago and I wanted to go to one of those to grad schools so having a recommendation from an alumni was important. Ended up going to Booth and it made my career.
If I want good shit in my life I need to go get it.
