Although you clearly don’t understand how cars work, it uses way less fuel to drive at 80kph on an empty road than it does to stop/start at 5kph crawling along in gridlock over the same distance.

Also, we have the most valuable real estate in the western world, people here are by definition wealthy enough that they don’t even look at the price when they fill up their tank.

Most of Australia's population lives in one city. If the US were only using Southern California as the basis, it would be way more valuable than Australia.
