Car prices haven't gone up much. The whining u see on social media is just ragebait.

Decided to check out car prices myself in a long ass time.

You can still buy cars at around these sticker prices brand new:
Honda Accord: $29k
Kia K4(Optima): $24k
Toyota Prius: $30k
Toyota Rav4: $35k

It's like everyone is brainrotted and needs full option features now and bigass SUVs. Mid-size sedans seem to have stayed relatively same as a decade ago. I will say luxury brands seem to have gone up considerably to get rid of the brokies off their lots. Base c-class and 3 series are $53-55k sticker now.

They used to drop massive discounts for savvy buyers. Not so much anymore. I remember my dad specifically bragging about how they knocked $7k off the price so that $24k MSRP checks out.

Now you're making me doubt myself, the lowest I can find on these forums from around that era is around $20,700 with some of the higher trims going for $5k-$6k off.

i was just looking at new Camry's and they are a little over $30K for a decent base model, but the dealers still want to tack on $5K worth of garbage to them all.

I think this is a huge problem the past few years. The shady salesmen will try to pressure all the add on garbage. Then if u stand up for urself and try to deny it they try to pull some bs like "oh we checked ur credit and u dont rly qualify buutttttttt if u agree to the add ons i can make a special approval" bs. And then consumerslopcels just cave in and get fleeced cuz they told their friends they were buying the car so they gotta have it. Ppl gotta wakeup and let the system crumble.

I was just looking at a E34 bmw. I remember in 2018ish you can get one in good condition for 2k.

Currently saving up for a used 4Runner, resale on them is high and I live in a state where they're all rusty underneath. BRB 16k for an SUV with 160K.

Plus you arent even factoring the interest rate for the avg person then compared to now.

Buddy of mine has a used car dealership...half are sub prime loans with 29% interest rates. Unreal.

Yeah but midsized sedans are being phased out by almost every major manufacturer for CUVs, so there are less options. Buying used remains the best value for normies, however interest rates have skyrocketed.

Prices definitely went up since covid, but you can still get a brand new car for under $25k. People are just dumb so they spend twice as much for no reason

We had to finance a car when we had kids, I drive a Civic and my wife drove a Chevy Aveo at the time, needed something bigger so we financed a Rav4. It'll be paid off next year, and after that, I plan on hopefully never having to finance a car again. Fuk having a car payment, I'll drive my Civic until it dies and then buy a similar used car that I could afford without having to finance.
