How do you guys living in NY state, PA, West VA, VA drive without ever hitting a fucking deer?

Drove to Virginia once from Toronto and I think I saw 1000 + deer on the way. It was brutal, have never been so stressed driving.

Is it just a given that you’ll eventually hit a deer a few times in your lives? And you just accept that fact. Based on the number of fucking deer I saw on the sides of the road I couldn’t see how this couldn’t be the case.

Do you guys just leave your homes and just accept this could be the day I total my car because of a deer?

I’ve hit 2, including one on our shotgun opener. Didn’t do that much damage to the truck I was driving and insurance covered it with no issues. I swear they are dead everywhere on the roadside in PA though. RICH going in dry

There's chit load of deer out here in central to eastern Long Island too.

Unfortunately it is pretty common to see a dead one on the side of the road that got hit, but I've never come close to hitting one.

I hit one 2 years ago the DAY I decided to sell my car. If you are on the Merritt parkway you better be careful.

They do $1B in property damage every year in America.

They spread Lyme's Disease to humans. Overpopulate and die from brain worms or killing each other.

But states won't do anything about them because they are cute. Just give some country boys a weekend to cull and donate the meat to shelters = win/win.

Ironic but my brother totaled his car when he ran over an alligator, and the dinosaur just walked back into the woods. Called it a "Florida Speed Bump"

I lived in New England a bit which if you never been there can be surprisingly rural. Anyways I knew multiple people in the office all hit deer it was the same result for all of them, they ended up no serious injuries but their cars are totalled from the damage. It was so common, someone shows up with a new car, hit a deer. I'm sure the insurance claim raises your rates after a while not like it's free

Somehow I was very lucky never happened. I hated driving remote highways at night a lot didn't have street lights so only your high beams and there are Forrests both sides of the road and speed limit is like 60-70mph. Basically pure lucky you don't hit a deer at high speed

Depends how far out of the city you are. I almost never see deer running into the road but coming across a dead one laying on the side of the road is pretty common.

But I used to drive between WNY and northern VA all the time and I almost never saw any deer srs. Were you taking the backroads?

Live in rural Michigan and it’s brutal. I’ve hit 3 deer in the past 15 years and my wife hit 2. Had several near misses, one where a deer jumped my hood in town and his hoof grazed my hood leaving scratches (there was a motorcycle next to me…how he missed that guy and didn’t kill him is crazy to me).

After one of these incidents the guy at the collision place said deer are 2/3 of his business. They are way over populated and facist DNR needs to allow hunters to take more or make the season longer (I don’t hunt) . Their only predator is coyotes who can’t keep the population in check like the wolves in the upper peninsula.

Yup! I've hit a deer once, way back when my son was an infant. It did about $1500 worth of damage. I'm always worried one will jump out in front of me.
