There was a period in the 2010s where you were mocked for enjoying "edgy" stuff such as early Linkin Park or characters such as Shadow The Hedgehog and got called a potential school shooter and it wasn't until 00s nostalgia hit that you stopped getting mocked for that. People don't want you to be yourself. They want you to be a beta provider.
