Is being a CEO really worth that? Why give employees such little raises?

It's not that being a CEO is necessarily worth it, but someone has to do the job and you gotta be able to entice the best people to come work for you. If the pay is shit, you'll get shitty candidates, and this is how companies go to shit.

CEO is expected to increase shareholder profits.
Literally the only function of the CEO. Everything they do is designed to facilitate this specific goal.

Including fucking over the consumer and their employees. Not only are they not getting raises, but wage theft is the most significant form of theft in the US and it isn’t even close.

This is all in the open so participating in this system at all is giving them permission to continue.

Boeing has 182k employees

10 million is an extra $55 spread across all employees

This is what you’re upset about. Would you rather give everyone in your company a $55 raise they will be ungrateful for and spit on or would you rather give a $10 mil raise to the person responsible for making sure the entire thing is profitable?

Pretty easy decision.

P.S.

That 1% you’re complaining about is a total sum that vastly exceeds the $10 mil raise given to the CEO.

The problem is you are one of many, so your percentage is reduced whereas he is 1 of 1 who doesn’t have to share with anyone.

If you want to be mad at anyone, it’s the other people around you digging in to your cut reducing your percentage raise to 1% because you are not a unique 1 of 1 employee. Want a 44% raise? Make everyone around you obsolete that they can fire

Let’s frame this differently.

Imagine every department was given an equal $10 million raise

You work in a department with 1000 other people, meaning you get the support of 999 other co-workers for your department to function properly, thus limiting your raise to $10k

Imagine there’s another department run solely by 1 person. Let’s pretend he’s not even the CEO, just some other guy who runs his entire department alone. He gets to keep that $10 mil entirely to himself

Are you still mad that you only get a $10k raise?


The problem is people see CEO and just get mad because the rich get richer. The reality is he’s getting a very small percentage of the total raises the company gave overall. He just doesn’t have to share his sum total with anyone else while you d lo because you’re an unimportant peasant.
