Money savings VS potential legal costs.

No it isnt worth it.
You will 100% get caught and they ALL have facial recognition.
If youre a repeat offender they will have your picture in the office so all employees know who to look for.
They'll also keep tabs on everything you steal.
Their facial recognition will alert them anytime you step into their stores.

I understand many retail outlets will let you get away with it until it reaches enough value to be a felony.
They are tracking you from the second you walk in. They have your information. You used your card there before. They are absolutely using facial AI recognition and have a database.

I mean, you'd have to be pretty dumb to actually get caught doing this. And if you did and it's not absurd, you could just say the item must not have scanned or something.
I don't intentionally steal from these, but occasionally Ill slide something by that doesn't actually scan, and just toss it in the bag and leave it there.

Do you really think they dont know that people "forget" to scan and say the same excuse? They heart it everyday all day.
If you do steal, they 100% know, and you will be put into their database and they have facial recognition which alerts LP the moment you step in the store.

Sometimes I’ll use the self checkout and weigh organic produce and say that it’s regular.

Can’t imagine being so poor you have to steal a $4 family bag of Doritos.

Couldn't imagine doing this - being a piece of shit hurting regular ppl working there and (mostly) small business owners.
If going through a rough time - maybe downgrade apartment or something else.

He audits Walmart, Kroger, dollar general and other grocery stores for this. They all fail.
He actually just made local news in his area.
He is gonna get trespassed from Walmart for sure.
So every major corporation is screwing its customers and employees. That is the world we live in
I also think there is absolutely no moral or ethical harm done by getting one over on these companies. If fact, if we were more aggressive they might act fucking right.
But we are pussies.

Depends on the city and/or state, but my position would be that unless you are desperate it is not worth it. You might get away with it a couple times but as other have stated they have cameras with facial recognition, so repeat offenders will be identified. Some stores like Sams Club have giant sensors to detect if something leaves the exit that wasn't scanned, and some still manually check receipts. They don't waste time checking every item but they will randomly pick 3 items so one time getting unlucky could sink you.
Now the reason I said it depends on city and/or state is because the police in some places won't even respond to petty theft or shoplifting. Where I live they won't come out to a store unless the value of the stolen goods is $1000 or more. So if you concern is only legal issues you would be fine in places like that as long as you aren't stealing a ton of things or very expensive merchandise. The issue here is the manager can still ban you from the store. IMO potential savings is not worth the risk of losing the ability to shop at a preferred store unless you are very desperate.

My store, i get away with it and have been for a year. Ive actually never got burned on the self checkout.
The people who stand there watching they wont point it out to me even though they notice my product left out the beep.
I only roll one product though so they assume it was a honest mistake and let it slide.
And i dont do it everytime. I notice they keep an eye out the next time i shop.
What i like to do is sometimes switch on them by going to the self checkouts in front of the regular cashier. Nobody uses those to steal when the self checkout aisle is easier.
Honestly, my final 2 cents is that if you can effortlesly make it appear as a mistake, youre all good. If you get greedy or have bad nerves then this is not for you.
You cant chase after big savings, you need to be in it for the love of the game & just yoink the occasional 5 finger discount.

And also if you're white. or a colored.
Many places like Target and Walmart WON'T bust you right away, they will let you rack up as much shit as they need to flip it from a petty mis. to a FELONY, then they call the cops while you're in store, and hand you a Felony and a ban.
They are smart enough to let you rack up whatever the location's limit is for felony. (again depends on location)

Thats why she has to UBEREATS water bottles to her parking lot: shes banned from shopping at all the stores nearby.

It is a sin!
I once saw my mom eating grapes at the supermarket. I told her to tell the cashier to charge her for the 2 grapes she ate/ The cashier was sarcastic about us wanting to pay 2 pieces of grapes, and my mom pissed at me.

My friend's cousin is a store manager at Wal-Mart, and like others have said ITT depending on the location, but at his location they just track you, and know who you are...after a while LP will approach you, and ask to see your receipt, and pay for the stuff you've stole, and trespass you from the store, and if you refuse to pay they will call the cops, and also show you and the cop all the times on surveillance stealing.

When I was like 7 or 8, my mom got caught stealing motor oil at superstore lol. Boom, banned. Oh lord she cried a lot.
Also I remember wanting a pair of twisted shoe laces at a kiosk. My mom took one and the person stopped her.
This was in vancouver where she got banned but then in alberta she became a department manager at superstore lol

I know someone who did this with like 20 racks of ribs but only scanned like 14.
