Is IQ pill the worst pill of them all?
I don’t mean to be a dick or blackpilled and I say this as someone with probably a low IQ.
I think the education system exploits this and people who have no business going to university do when they are better suited to more simple jobs.
I’ve experienced this first hand. I remember being in a decision modelling course in uni and I had to expel so much mental effort whereas my roommate learned everything in the lecture and barely studied. I was lost 5 minutes into the lecture and had to stay up till 3am studying.
Reflecting on this led me to the most brutal pill and that is the iq pill. No matter how hard someone works at some sort of mental task someone smarter will be able to compete the same task expelling less energy at a fraction of the time.
There is a concept called flow state where time sort of stops and you have heightened concentration and awareness. You enter this state by completing tasks where you progress and it’s not too difficult to progress. People with high iq can enter this state by completing mental tasks while people with low iq cannot - they may complete the task but the task is too difficult and expels too much energy for them to enter this state. This leads to stress hormones which are extremely unhealthy. Also to compound things it could lead to burnout and lack of long term consistency. This person should not take a job that requires creativity and problem solving.

Probably not, low IQ people most people won't fuck with because they're violent, they tend to be more loyal as well.
Probably the ugly pill is the worst one.

Encouraging low iq people to compete in arenas that require mental horsepower is putting them into a position to fail.

Using the SAT as admissions criteria ensures that everyone accepted has the intellectual capability to complete the coursework and thrive in the environment. Yes, some people can do less work to thrive than others, but everyone can thrive in the environment with enough dedication and work. It is a matter of effort for them. Some dude won a Nobel Prize in science with a 126 IQ, he was not a genius, but he was dedicated.
When you take it to the bottom ranks of colleges, the community college, the expectations after graduating should not be as high. But it can prepare you for success for life. A bunch of my High School friends went to Oakton Community college because they accepted you with a very low hurdle, most got mundane jobs, but on the other side, that is the school Charlie Kirk went to, I'm not saying community college is not a good thing, there are financial considerations as well. But if you go to community college and are not prepared to put in the effort, yes you are wasting your time.
I didn't know what Flow State was until you described it above, that is exactly what happened to me when I took the SAT and GMAT for grad school. I lose consciousness to some extent, I don't think about anything around me, I lose myself and my mind works and solves the problems. It kind of backfired on the GMAT because at some point I realized I spent 20 minutes on 1 problem thinking i was close to the solution the whole time. Anyway, I cruised through the rest and got an above average score for the MBA school of my choice.

I knew a guy in college who really woke up to what IQ is. He was a partyer, drinking every night, fun extroverted personality. He was majoring in Electrical Engineering and graduated. I had never ever seen him study (although I only knew him socially he was not bookish at all).
Another EE major told me he messes up the classes because his grades are so high. He told me this guy would get 90-100% on exams whereas the class averge would be 45% or something. The class would be curved to the highest score in class.
IQ is kinda like sports, some people are just innately gonna do much much better. I suspect every single professional MLB player was naturally good despite them telling you how "hard" they worked. Yeah work helped but only because they were already naturals not the other way around.

I’m actually too scared to have my iq tested. If I scored below average I would most likely spiral into a clinical depression and give up on life.
Ignorance is bliss in this instance.

It’s a lot different in Canada. We have no standardized testing for the purposes of college admissions.
You simply have to get good marks in your senior year of high school - some extracurriculars for super competitive programs.

The sad truth is that of the kids we send to university when they're 18, only about 50% of them appreciate it enough to put in even a little bit of effort.
I know I didn't.
This has very little to do with IQ.

Higher education was a good thing until it became over-marketed and over-politicized. The higher education industry exploits young people by enticing them to pursue 4 year degrees, and lots of them go into debt while doing so. This wasn't such a bad thing in the 80s and 90s and earlier when tuition rates weren't so high, and when a university degree was a pretty good safety net that wasn't going to guarantee you a job but gave you a much better shot at one. Then the federal government expanded their grants and loans, as did private providers, and more young people went to college. This included a bunch of people who were unsuited to higher academia as OP mentioned. Employers caught onto this, which is why now having a 4 year degree on your resume means very little to them.
The second effect of that is with students getting lots more grants and loans, the colleges themselves realized that they could keep increasing tuition rates. On top of that they expanded their marketing and persuasion techniques. They know they are persuading kids to attend university who would be better off going to trade schools, but they don't care because the tuition money to them is guaranteed whether the kids can make it through the degree and find a job or not.
The people who are "advising" these kids need a reality check as well. While many of them are intelligent individuals, they lack in common sense and knowledge of what's actually going to benefit kids in the long term. For example I was in college for math and was considering switching to physics. My advisor told me "your English professors rave about your papers you should be an English major; you can do anything with that degree and it shows employers that you know how to think." They tell me this despite me having a perfect 800 SAT Math II score and placing highly in several state and multi-state math competitions. The last part hooked me because at the time I had no idea what I wanted for a job I just liked doing equations and solving problems but I knew that there were no jobs consisting of that other than teaching other people math or physics. So I switched to English major and it was next to useless to me finding a job. Then you have all the high school counselors who try to push kids into university when they aren't suited to it.
I'd recommend a few things. I think we could redirect our financial support for education. Government grants should only go to degrees that are high priority useful for finding a job and useful to society. Basically STEM, business, accounting, pre-med, nursing, pre-law. If you switch to a major outside of those, you lose your scholarship, and if your GPA falls below 3.0 you're on probation for a semester and if you don't get back above 3.0 you lose your scholarship. If people want other degrees that's fine. They can pay for it themselves or earn private scholarships. But taxpayers shouldn't be on the hook for useless degrees that aren't helping people find work after college. Otherwise divert some funding into grants for trade school and community college students. Encourage kids to develop useful skills that will make them desirable job candidates. And get people into advisor roles who aren't just going to shill for their preferred program.
---------------------------------------------------------
Tl;dr - Advisors need a reality check and actually advise students on what's best for their future. Colleges just treat admissions and their students as a commodity and a profit tool. Funding post HS education is important, but we need to incentivize certain useful degrees and trade schools/community college.

We'd see really quickly which schools are willing to eat their own cooking, and which ones are milking students for profits.

for sure back in the day you had to be very smart to attend university - but back then it was also free.
you got interviewed, and got an invitation placement. these mickey mouse courses didnt exist.
today's education system will take anybody even if you cannot speak the native language
the modern model created and accepts student loans, so they get paid up front. they dont care if you fail or drop out. you carry the debt going forward
often you'll never pay it off as the interest that gets added each year is higher than your monthly repayment.
Charlie Kirk pretty much proved college is a scam. most shouldn't be there because they aren't smart enough to study something useful, and what they study won't help them.
how the fk can people fail a course with this tool called the internet. back in the day you had to leave your house and go to the library and pray you could find a book to help you
now you can talk to AI and learn about anything in depth
wild times when this generation has a lower IQ than the previous one. because they aren't taught to think

how the fk can people fail a course with this tool called the internet. back in the day you had to leave your house and go to the library and pray you could find a book to help you
now you can talk to AI and learn about anything in depth
wild times when this generation has a lower IQ than the previous one. because they aren't taught to think

Iq pill is like trying to become a male model as a baldcel.
Encouraging low iq people to compete in arenas that require mental horsepower is putting them into a position to fail.

IQ matters far less than people think. Success is determined by attitude, adaptability, effort, networking and, to a certain extent, luck.
I used to work with a handful of attorneys at a previous job and you'd be surprised at how many of them did not come across as particularly intelligent, however they had strong determination, the charisma to charm people in positions of power (almost like being media trained), and largely came from upper middle class socioeconomic backgrounds. All of them were essentially set up for success.
Your writing style and sentence structure suggest you do not have low intellect. You are self-aware and introspective. Perhaps you have struggled with a lifelong lack of confidence. I can relate, to an extent. Although my biggest hurdles have been action aversion and, as a 97th percentile introvert (srs), retreating to comfort in solitude, rather than seeking out relationships that would be beneficial.
At the end of the day, it's more about balancing the right character traits than just "being smart."
Also, don't worry about taking an IQ test brah. Regardless of the result, you're better off measuring by standard deviation than fretting about a particular number. There's not a whole lot that separates a someone with a 95 IQ from someone with a 110 IQ. They are both average and, with average effort, are likely to have average outcomes. The real outliers are retards and geniuses.

Everyone has their thing. You may not have been born smart, but you were born good looking. Millions of incels would kill to trade places with you.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

They've let too many low IQ into the stem classes and now everyone gets a dumbed down education
I hear all the AP classes in highschools are full of shequandras now
You used to be able to take those to avoid the dumb kids
Now add in the economic realities of today. Because you used to be able to work a factory job with an IQ of 90 and buy a house and two cars and raise a family. And you were building products that lasted 30 years
Now all those production jobs are in China and they make cheap slop that breaks in 5 years
The elites really have no use for low IQ people. Long term they are looking for some kind of extermination event. I understand in the short term they are importing low class 3rd worlders to break the will of the people but once they achieve their one world government it's over for low IQ
