As a former alcoholic who is now 4 months sober, i cringe at how much money i wasted on alcohol (SRS)

today i was looking through my bank accounts and i decided to see how much money i spent at the liquor store over the past 2 years (i was too scared to do this previously).

in the past 2 years, i spent 10 grand just on alcohol srs.

think about how much money i spent on alcohol over the past 10 years - at least 40 grand.

i was so fukking stupid srs.

I moved to Toronto in 2015

I would give a conservative estimate that I’ve spent 200 a weekend on going out

So that’s 800 a month for 11 years …105k lmfao

And none of it was worth it

I’ve wasted my entire life … at 36 it’s over for me

I don’t even have any fond memories because I was hammered for most of it

Now imagine if you used that money as the down payment on a house...or invested it in the stock market.

In Russia we could get a litre of the best possible vodka for like 300r

From time to time that worked out to like USD$5 or less

I don’t recall ever being sober there

Been thinking the same about snus (tobacco.) Guessing 1500-1600 bucks per yr, so it could pay for some decent vacation trip every year. And been using it for 35 yrs.

Is this from going to bars n shiet or drinking at home?

I go thru like 2 vodka handles a month, occasionally at my worst it would be 1 handle a week. $33 per handle

At $415+ a month, that's 12 handles a month

Unless u drank beer. This is one of the reasons i stopped drinking beer. Not only do u get bloated n consume tons of gluten n shiet, it's also quite expensive as a daily habit

That’s a crazy amount of money for an addiction. A buddy of mine wanted me to lend him some money . I’m like wtf , you just flipped a house and pocketed over a 100K a year ago , like where the fk is the money ?
He said up his nose . I’m like in a year? Yup

And I thought a 15 pack once every 6 weeks was bad lol

I counted up how much money I spent on monster drinks on my Amazon orders and it was a few thousand over the years. And that is cheaper than buying them individually at a gas station

Don't go looking into this shit if you don't want the answers

did you at least enjoy yourself each time you drank that alcohol? People have easily spent that much with absolutely zero return in anything.

I’m assuming he did a lot of. It’s funny as all the years I knew him I was totally unaware he was into that chit. We did a lot of dirt biking and drinking together, but never drugs . May have explained his bad moods from time to time when he was coming down

I’ve seen where this has been true . I know a guy who spent over 30K to get custody of his kid , only to find out by that time he got custody that was a total idiot and kicked him out of the house lol

In my case I drink but I also really enjoy when I get rinsed and it costs 40 bucks for a 15 pack once a month at most , so it’s not overly expensive. I also bought a 40 of whiskey on my Bday , but that was a special occasion. Never drink whiskey again crew srs .
Could have worse addictions srs

You didn't start the night hammered so how do you not have any memories? I have so many memories and had so much fun and was hammered. Now I'm older and have kids so I don't even drink anymore - not complaining since having kids has been so much fkn fun srs. And that's coming from someone who never wanted kids until my mid 30s - so I'm not one of those 'kids are the most fulfilling thing ever' cope people who got married and had kids in their early 20s and never experienced the party scene.
