How have you reacted in the past to people in a gym correcting your form?

Like if you were using dumbbells that were too heavy for side laterals and a bro pointed that out to you, did you get angry, or were you polite to him?
If you’re born to the iron, you’ll know it the first time you lift!

No one has ever tried to correct my form.

One guy apologized to me after he responded to me correcting his form lol.

Assert dominance by pulling his pants down and spanking him right there in the middle of the gym

Yeah back in university I was doing squats and some guy from the university football team who was working out near me corrected my form.

Nice guy and I appreciated it.

That was the only time in 18 years of off and on lifting.

So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

At the time I was on a ton of gear and doing a lot more than body weight squats.

This was 15 years ago.

My buddy was a manager for the football team at Notre Dame, and had access to their workout facility, general students like me didn't. He got me in and we were benching, and the players started filing in. The star defensive tackle walked up to us and said, it's about time for you boys to leave. Totally mogged.

Hahaha brutal

I’ve accompanied one of my siblings on a few official recruiting visits to US power 4 schools and I’m blown away by the facilities and just the sheer amount of money they invest in athletics down there. Pretty cool imo.

At my university in Canada the football team didn’t even get their own gym, they simply shut down the university gym at certain times of the week. Actually I don’t even think the entire gym they would just section off a few power racks.

Depends on a lot. I'm not above taking advice. When I was 18 and just starting, a bodybuilder guy and his wife spent some of their own time offering me some tips. I appreciated it. Now if some fat dude started offering up advice, I'd tell him to eat a dick. Want me to be open to fitness advice, better be fit yourself.

I just politely say thank you. Hypothetically of course, I have top tier form and avoid ego lifting. Being taller and decent shape people assume you know what you are doing so they leave you the heck alone.

I was just nod, smile, agree, and then think about it. If they have a point, ok fair enough. If it was idiotic, I would try to avoid them

This queer at my gym at work tried to tell me not to drop the dumbbells doing db press (I wasn’t, but I eased them down kind of hard, they were 110 lb dbs. The floor is rubber, it happens when you’re lifting hard).

I told him to mind his own fucking business and he says well I don’t drop weights and I reply that’s bc you db press with 35s, gtfoh.

This was like 10 years ago and dude still won’t even make eye contact when we cross paths in the hall lol
