You gotta realize, being a chef is one of the shittiest jobs out there. They literally work like 65 hours per week and very stressful much of the time for like $65k in most cases. Any pretentious or oddball behavior from them is just a way to cope with their shitty existence.

If I were a professional chef, I'd be the biggest alcoholic out there. Constantly drunk on the job.
